After a recent power failure, Volume1 raid 0 error occurred (there is only one) shows status Degraded , but bootable. the Configuration Utility. Have I got a dead disk? What might I do in the Configuration Utility? Advice welcome, More about : raid degraded error occurred sub mesa a c 127 G Storage November 12, 2010 4:27:25 PM Just initiate a rebuild, but to avoid user mistakes get all data off first to a backup. The rebuild can be done in Windows (with Intel RAID controller utility) or after the ssd error occurred 0 POST (Power-On Self Test) when you hear the beep and the it tells you to press CONTROL+I for RAID setup. There should be an option to enable rebuild on the volume. But you should be able to use the volume per normal; and boot with it. Degraded means you still got enough disks to access all data on the RAID. PS. You may want to consider using a real backup instead of RAID1; RAID1 cannot replace a backup, though both cost the same disk space. So my advice would be: split the RAID and use one disk as backup instead, preferably in another system for optimal security, and use network (LAN) backup software. I have in the past had discrepancies between the two disks, and have seen them being brought back into agreement, from a display in the task bar. I thought it would happen again that way, but it's not happening. Maybe the INTEL Raid utility has got itself scrubbed - I had a power failure a few weeks ago which did all sorts of damage. How might I check the presence of the Intel Raid controller? How might I reload it if it is not

Best answer SolandriJan 3, 2015, 1:59 PM I don't think that's what's happening. The whole point of RAID is that the system can keep running with one disk failed. It shouldn't reboot because a drive failed. The error message sounds like you suffered one http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2460191/raid-failure-drive-error-occurred-offline-member.html drive failure long ago ("offline member"). Had you noticed it and replaced/fixed the failed drive at the time, you would be fine right now.The second drive (only remaining one in the array) has now failed, which is why you're getting the "error occurred" message and the RAID status is "failed". With a single drive failure, the RAID status should show as "degraded" or some similar term. Because both drives failed, that's why your computer rebooted by itself. Not much you can do except hope it was a SATA connector problem and not an actual drive failure. Fiddle with the connections and hope it starts up. Because one of the drives failed an undetermined time ago, if you get that drive working it may show the PC's state at the time that drive failed, which may have been several months ago. So don't rebuild the array until you're sure you've got the most recent drive up and running. But I would salvage whatever data I can from either drive. Some data recovered is better than none.Edit: With Intel RST and most other RAID drivers, there's an option to notify or email you if a drive failure occurs. It is crucial to set this up so you don't blissfully keep using the system unaware that a drive has failed. Win 7/8 didn't help matters because the notifications get hidden in the little up-triangle popup box by de

Two days ago, I turned on my computer, and the raid status (Intel raid) had changed to Rebuild. This had happened a couple of times before, so I thought nothing of it. When it booted to windows, a windows driver install window came up, notifying me that there was a driver needed to be installed called "Duplicate" or something like that (could have been Rebuild, or something else along those lines). This was a bit more odd in my experience. I still thought nothing of it however. It installed the driver, and told me that windows needed to restart in order for the changes to take effect, or something along those lines. Being in rather a hurry, I told it to cancel (or wait, or something like that), and continued using the computer as normal for the rest of the day. Come nightfall, I turned off t
