Please help. permalink I am running the latest version of iTunes on a 2012 MacBook Pro. I have a recurring problem where tracks in iTunes won't play at all when I click on them even though they are still connected to a file in the iTunes library. When I try to convert one of these dead tracks to another format, I get the following error message, for example: "Error occurred while converting the file 'Everlasting Light'. An unknown error occurred (-50)." This is happening a lot! I did a diagnostic on my two external hard drives (where I keep all my music files) and disk utility says they are OK. One thing I've noticed is that on one of these dead tracks, the mini thumbnail of the artwork in the iTunes library won't appear for a track that is dead. The working tracks retain the mini thumbnail artwork. Please help. The Apple Support

convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC. On my iPod it shows a savings of nearly 40% in space. Here is the problem, for those of us with big ### libraries from way back with countless types of encoded files, iTunes has problems converting some of the files. When it comes to a file it cannot convert it stops the entire syncing process. Apple needs to add the functionality to not down-convert the problematic files and continue syncing only what it can convert or preferably add additional supported encoders. I've written Apple in the past, never even got a response. I'm hoping someone here can pass this along to Apple so they can address the problem. If some knows a good work around could you share it? Thanks! post reply | video help | read more Convert Higher Bitrate Songs to something other than 128 kbps AAC location: ilounge.com - date: October 24, 2010 Greetings iLoungers, (This may only apply to iTunes on a mac). I have a fairly large iTunes library, and the vast majority of songs in it are VBR AAC files, encoded between 192 kbps and 320 kbps. I have an old (2nd gen) 4 GB iPod Nano as my sole music player—it still gets great battery life and is on its original battery. I love the ability that iTunes offers to automatically convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps AAC. However, through a few tests, I've not noticed a significant enough difference between 128 kbps AAC and 96 kbps AAC for me to justify having 128 kbps on my iPod over 96 kbps; though 96 kbps MP3 was quite terrible, 96 kbps AAC sounded just fine enough for my uses—80 kbps AAC was pretty bad though. If I were able to convert to 96 kbps rather than 128 kbps, I could have over 25% more songs on my iPod. In the past, I've converted a selection of ≈1200 songs to 96 kbps VBR AAC, deselected them, and made them a different medi post reply | video help | read more iPad will not sync music.
