Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes. Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.Step 1Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.Step 2Sign out of iMessage on all your Apple devices. Log out and log back in. Try again to sign in.Step 3Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.Step 4From the menu bar, select ▹ About This MacBelow

Apple Id
to a problem I just had, hopefully to save future Google searchers some time. How to fix this: Open iChat's Preferences. Under Accounts, select Server Settings. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6454016?tstart=0 Try unchecking "Use SSL", or changing the Port to 443, or both. Try taking iChat online again. You may not need to -- if it's this problem, it should take you online https://marco.org/2011/09/11/ichat-lion-cannot-log-in-network-error-occurred immediately. Take iChat back offline, go back to Preferences, Accounts, Server Settings, and click "Use Default Settings" (which changes it back to SSL and port 5190). Try to go online again and it should work. It seems that Lion's networking is still a bit finicky under 10.7.1. (This also might be the AOL servers' fault, but probably not.) ◆ Follow Marco.org posts: Twitter, RSS feed, or the alternate RSS feed in which link posts always point here first instead of their targets. An old DS213 which QuickConnect works fine on, and a new DS713+ which QuickConnect always gives me the dreaded "Network error occurred" message when I try to configure QuickConnect. The 713+ allows me to configure myDS with my account, but that's about as far as I can get. Both disk stations are behind the same router and neither have firewall configured on the NAS. So, I doubt it's actually a network error. All other functions (local network, internet downloads, backups, etc.) work on the 713+.So, far I've tried power cycling both the DS713+ and my router, stopping ALL packages, and disabling all port forwarding on the router. All to no avail.I did find the following in the logs on the NAS, but it's not much more useful than the generic "Network error occurred" message from the web interface./var/log/messages:Code: Select allMar 19 23:02:57

Jan 13, 2015 | Comments (8) Yesterday, while testing the iPhone Cellular Calls feature on my iPad Air 2, I ran into a weird issue. I was logged out of FaceTime and iMessage, though I am not sure why that happened. Since I need to be logged into the same iCloud account as my iPhone for the feature to work (in addition to being connected to the same Wi-Fi network), I tried to login to FaceTime, but I kept getting the following error "FaceTime Activation Error: Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again”. I tried the regular troubleshooting tips, such as restarting and reseting my iPad Air etc, signing into the iCloud account again, but nothing seemed to help. The thing that seemed to do the trick and finally fix the issue was to set the time zone to set automatically by going to Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically. Apple does suggest to check if the time zone is set properly in the knowledge base article if you get an error when trying to activate FaceTime or iMessage, but I didn't realize the problem could be because I had set the time zone manually. I was able to sign in to FaceTime without any issues after setting timezone to automatic, and was also signed in to iMessage. I am assuming that you will hit a similar issue with iMessage as well. You can change the time zone manually again after the FaceTime/iMessage activation error is resolved. Set Date & Time Automatically If the above method does not help in fixing the error, then you check if the Date & Time are set automatically. To check, launch the Settings app, and navigate to General > Date & Time, and ensure that the toggle next to ‘Set Automatically’ is enabled. You can try activating iMessage/FaceTime again to see if it helps. You can set the time manually after you've successfully activated FaceTime or iMessage. I didn't have the foresight of taking a screenshot of the error, so please share the screenshot if you're getting this error. I hope this helps someone who is facing this issue. I had almost given up hope. Like this post? Share it! Related Topics: Fa
