When trying to create partition I get this error message : Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again. But when i check my drive under disk utility it says that my drive is already in MacOS External (journaled). What could the problem be? I posted this previously but I haven't got any suggestions. I currently have no partitions. My time machine is dead, can I re-format without back-up? If I don't have any partitions why wont some files transfer? On Sale Now 5 Answers Filter by: Most Helpful Newest Oldest Chosen Solution bac @bac Rep: 7.7k 40 20 8 Posted: 01/15/2010 Options Permalink History I think I may have an idea for you... is this the error message you get? if so, I've heard that bootcamp needs a large enough unfragmented chunk of disk space on your drive to be able to set up your Windows partition, otherwise it stops with this error. it's trying to tell your existing OS X installation is fragmented and not enough space for a contiguous 2nd partition. the remedy seems to be 1) first back up your entire drive to an external disk. personally, I recommend using SuperDuper! Or, you mentioned something about Time Machine - you could also just do a full TM backup. 2) reboot from OS X install disk and now reformat your drive as HFS exten
