Actually I made a mistake! It is RAID 0. Both drives give me 3TB of storage. I updated the original post. The reason I chose this was because I have another backup of it, which makes the dead drive no big deal. However, there is about 1 month of pictures that weren't backed up so I'm trying to figure out if I can recover that (through software?). disks in my RAID 0 is now reporting this error: "Error Occurred(0)" I googled for this error message and found only one other person that reported this error and his screen snapshot is nearly identical to http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1970873/errors-drives-raid.html my problem. http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1132761 None of the responses that I read in that thread were helpful to me. Using Western Digital diagnostic tools, I tested each drive and no errors in either drive were discovered. Chkdsk also reported no errors. From the time I first observed this error message some days ago, the computer has been working without any apparent problems (boots up and runs just fine) but the error message is driving http://www.wirelessforums.org/alt-comp-hardware/error-occurred-0-raid-0-what-does-mean-14336.html me nuts. What does it mean? It 'might' be that one of the drives has developed a SMART error. Years ago when the WD 36gig Raptors first came out, I had two iof them running in a RAID 0 array. My symtoms were slightly differenrt than your, mine would randomly lock up. Usually re-booting the system got it going again but I could never find the problem. One of the thing I did notice, was that none of the programs I tried could read the SMART status of either drive. A

Kadence Senior member Joined: Nov 18, 2004 Messages: 275 Likes Received: 0 I have a 2x300GB WD Velociraptor RAID 0 array (P5E Deluxe motherboard). My computer is working fine booting from that drive, but on boot Intel Matrix Storage Manager error occurred says in red text that there is an "Error(0)" on the 2nd drive. I ran a checkdisk which took a couple hours I think, but Storage Manager is still showing the same message. What is this error, and how do I fix it? Also I have a nightly incremental backup set in in Vista copying the RAID drive to an external 750GB drive. Could this error potentially cause any raid 0 error corruption of the backup? #1 Kadence, May 7, 2009 RebateMonger Elite Member Joined: Dec 24, 2005 Messages: 11,592 Likes Received: 0 Originally posted by: Kadence Also I have a nightly incremental backup set in in Vista copying the RAID drive to an external 750GB drive. Some backups, like XP/2003's NTBackup, can be made worthless by a drive failure during the backup process. The answer with NTBackup was always to have at least two different backup files (made at different times), so one will still be good. #2 RebateMonger, May 7, 2009 Nothinman Elite Member Joined: Sep 14, 2001 Messages: 30,672 Likes Received: 0 I would guess it's a SMART error indicating the drive might fail soon, not something Windows would see like a bad block, yet anyway. #3 Nothinman, May 7, 2009 Kadence Senior member Joined: Nov 18, 2004 Messages: 275 Likes Received: 0 Originally posted by: RebateMonger What kind of backup is it?
