Intel Matrix Storage Manager Error Occurred 0 Raid 1
Hello, I have two WD3200AAKS-0 disks in a RAID1 array. After a recent power failure, Volume1 (there is only one) raid 0 error occurred (0) shows status Degraded , but bootable. As physical drives, one shows "Member Disk(0), the other shows "Error Occurred(0)". I have the option during the boot phase to

after the POST (Power-On Self Test) when you hear the beep and the it tells you to press CONTROL+I for RAID setup. There should be an option to enable rebuild on the volume. But you should be able to use the volume per normal; and boot with it. Degraded means you still got enough disks to access all data on the RAID. PS. You may want to consider using a real backup instead of RAID1; RAID1 cannot replace a backup, though both cost the same disk space. So my advice would be: split the RAID and use one disk as backup instead, preferably in another system for optimal security, and use network (LAN) backup software. Cheers, -sub vaughan65 13 November 2010 01:56:32 Thanks, sub_mesa. I have in the past had discrepancies between the two disks, and have seen them being brought back into agreement, from a display in the task bar. I thought it would happen again that way, but it's not happening. Maybe the INTEL Raid utility has got itself scrubbed - I had a power failure a few weeks ago which did all sorts of damage. Raid 1 Mirror Degraded
to the conclusion that the problem could be with one of the drives. I restarted the system and entered the RAID configuration menu. One of the drives was indicated as having a SMART Event(0).After some searching http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/263827-32-raid-degraded-error-occurred online, I thought it would probably be best to replace the drive which was indicated as having the SMART event. After replacing the drive and restarting the system, I initiated the rebuild process from the RAID setup menu.Long story short... there have been several additional Blue Screen shutdowns. (None with the iastor message.)Looking at the RAID configuration menu, the drive which was part of the original RAID1 setup is indicated as "Error Occurred(0)" in https://communities.intel.com/thread/42228 the setup menu, with the RAID status as "Degraded".I'm interested in knowing if this is common. Do I now need to replace the second original drive? (The new drive was a Seagate that was similar to the one removed. It was the same type of drive (SATA), and the size was the same (931.5GB); but it was a different height (thinner). I asked at BestBuy when I purchased it and was told that as long as it is SATA and the same size I should be good.Any thoughts?ThanksJeff 13737Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Two days ago, I turned on my computer, and the raid status (Intel raid) had changed to Rebuild. This had happened a couple of t
