Whichever option I pick it just cycles back.Reading a lot of articles, I have been directed to try and run chkdsk from the recovery console with the orig Win CD in place and booted up to that. When I do this, and get to the c: prompt, it never shows error occurred during c:\WINDOWS, just C:, nor am I asked for the admin password as all articles say. From there I have tried to do a c:\dir, and get the error "an error occurred during directory enumeration" . Back up your data. Then from a working machine get a diagnostic utility from the hard drive mftr. and do a thorough scan of the hard drive. Replace the drive if there are errors. Definitely you should back up your data before messing around with Fixmbr, etc. Then determine that the hardware is sound before going further with software solutions.
