When trying going through 'View File Info' and trying to edit data, I am getting this error: 'Cannot save metadata: error opening file' When trying to go through 'edit metadata for selection', it says: 'Error updating file: [file path goes here]', but it seems to update it anyway? PS. This may also seem like a newby question, and it is probably is, but why is all the information greyed out on the metadata information table? EDIT: While using the second option, when disabling 'update file tag(s) if supported', it seems to work OK. Any reason why this is? EDIT2: It also seems that Winamp automatically decided to make a lot of my album names 'Justin's Music', which is co-incidentally where one of my music folders is. Either that, or the containing folder doesn't have write permissions under the current Windows user profile. Make sure the music files aren't read-only (Windows folder -> select all -> rt-click first item -> Properties -> Uncheck 'Read-only' -> Apply) If tags can't be written, then just the Media Library database entry will be updated instead. Winamp will use this ahead of the actual tags when "Use library title info for playlist item formatting" is checked in Prefs -> Local Media -> Options. If there's no Album specified in the tags, then Winamp will guess (based on settings in: Prefs -> Local Media -> Watch Folders -> configu

If I right-click the file, go to Properties then the Details tab, I cannot click in the fields to edit them. If I use the details panel http://forums.shoutcast.com/showthread.php?t=322803 at the bottom of the folder, or try to edit the metadata in Winamp, I get the following error: Any ideas what's wrong, or how to edit the details of these files? Kuy Get MP3tag (freeware) Mp3tag - Download. Configure tag settings thusly: Perform a full backup of your music. You won't need it if you do this right but... Highlight problematic files (or all files as this will cleanup and reduce tag garbage). Click the red X in the toolbar (remove tags). This will remove all tags from the selected files. Click the Undo button next to it. This will write clean tags in only a single consistent format to your files. The troublesome files have ID3v2.3 tags, if that helps. They are also missing entries in the mp3Tag columns headed Codec, Bitrate, Frequency and VBR, and their Length is 00.00. However, they play fine! (I'm using Winamp v5.571 to play music files, if that matters) My System Specs OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit . kuy View Public Profile Find More Posts by ku
… you probably searched around hours to find a solution on how to change the location to your media library (e.g. you swapped hard drives, bought http://nex.be/winamp-change-library-location/ a new pc, …). Rescanning your media folder is the easiest way to rebuild your media library, but you'll loose play count, play dates and maybe more meta data. I've searched the winamp forum for solutions, but the only result was people asking the same questions without getting the right answers. Depending on your Winamp version you might have tried some none working plugins too. The error updating logical solution would be exporting your winamp media library to an iTunes XML format (and the export process will work!), but you'll run into fatal errors when trying to import it. It all boils down to getting access to the core data file of your winamp media library (main.dat) and updating an outdated location to a hard drive or directory that has been moved. I error updating file have tested this approach with the latest Winamp version 5.61. Try at your own risk and keep a backup in a safe place in case you run into problems. For starters you've made a backup of your original user's winamp appdata (c:\Users\
