Sign in to vote I recently ran the necessary Schema updates to upgrade the the replication generated an error (5) access is denied AD infrastructure to Windows 2003. I then ran dcpromo on a server making it a domain controller. When I run dsbindwithspnex() failed with error 5 "dcdiag /v" I receive a "Direcotry Binding Error 5 Access Denied" error. I verified replicaiton between the new Windows 2003 domain controller and the the other domain controllers. Has anyone seen this type error

some cases it could be that the system is offline. Depends on what you were testing. If this happened during a FSMO test, then the FSMO role holder during that test might have been offline or for some reason not contactable. If you can figure out which system was trying to be contacted when the error occurred, then you can try running:dcdiag /fixnetdiag /fixOn both the machine where you experienced the issue and the machine that was being queried when the issue occurred. Netdiag is only available on Server 2003 and Windows 2000, if a Windows Server 2008 machine is involved, dcdiag /fix should suffice. Resolve any connectivity issues you discovery, if possible. Run your test again and see if all is good.
