Solved "Access Denied' https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073945 issues with new Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controller Posted on 2013-08-06 Windows Server 2008 Active Directory 1 Verified Solution 7 Comments 7,551 Views 1 Ratings Last Modified: 2013-08-07 I have a single domain with 3 domain controllers (all Server 2003). We added a new Server 2008 server to the domain and promoted it to a Domain Controller https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28205710/Access-Denied'-issues-with-new-Windows-Server-2008-R2-domain-controller.html and everything seemed to go well with no errors. We transferred all FSMO roles to the new server. After a couple of days -- we noticed that replication wasn't happening completely between the original servers and the new one. Also, there is nothing in the SYSVOL folder on this server. -DNS is setup and running on the 2008 server but fails when testing recursive queries. -When we try to do a 'replicate now' from AD Sites and Services - we get 'Access Denied' error -DCDIAG commands show "
bad! 7 August 2012 by Adam Rush Scenario It's a pleasant day and all is well with the world. Colleagues are skipping around the office with smiles on faces…until…duh duh daaa! One by one, http://www.virtuallyimpossible.co.uk/when-good-domain-controllers-go-bad/ services start failing: Printers go offline: First, for Win7 users Then for all clients Can still print from server though File shares go offline Active Directory replication fails DNS console will not open http://forums.msexchange.org/DCDIAG_and_server_logon_problems/m_140167900/tm.htm Basically, your main Domain Controller (DC) has just taken a dump…and so have you! These are the steps I took to troubleshoot the issues and get everything back online. Solution Gather Information Run failed with the following commands to gather useful information: ipconfig /all > c:\ipconfig.txt (from each DC/DNS Server) dcdiag /v /c /d /e /s: > c:\dcdiag.txt dcdiag /test:dns /s: /DnsBasic > c:\dcdiag-dnsbasic.txt repadmin /showrepl dc* /verbose /all /intersite > c:\showrepl.txt (dc* is a placeholder for the starting name of the DCs if they all begin the same - if more then one DC exists) repadmin /replsum > c:\replsum.txt Pour failed with error through the txt files and note down the errors. Some of mine included: repadmin /showrepl Last error: 1256 (0x4e8): The remote system is not available. Last error: 5 (0x5): Access is denied. WARNING: KCC could not add this REPLICA LINK due to error. result 1722 (0x6ba): The RPC server is unavailable. repadmin /replsum (1722) The RPC server is unavailable. (5) Access is denied. dcdiag /test:dns /s: /DnsBasic The host

The first one is in domain1 and this new one is in domain2. Domain2 is in the same forest as a second top level domain. Running DCDIAG produces the following. Please see below for errors. How can I fix this? Also, pretty sure it's connected, but I can log onto the domain2's domain controllers with credentials from domain1, but I can't log onto the new Exchange server with the same credentials. I get an error stating "unable to obtain terminal server user configuration."C:\Program Files\Support Tools>dcdiag /s:falconDomain Controller DiagnosisPerforming initial setup: Done gathering initial info.Doing initial required tests Testing server: Default-First-Site-Name\FALCON Starting test: Connectivity .........................
