Boinc is running, I started it for several times today, each time no problem. When I start boincmgr, it says connect: Verbindungsaufbau abgelehnt connect: Verbindungsaufbau abgelehnt execvp(/boinc) failed with error 2! connect: Die Operation ist jetzt in Bearbeitung init_poll: get_socket_error(): 111 init_poll: get_socket_error(): 111 already tried both ports, giving up I then tried to insert my ID, but it doesn't seem to remember it, still fails. Any ideas? Moin, Du solltest den entsprechenden Port deiner Firewall mal frei schalten und warum läuft boinc dann problemlos auch so? Benutzen die beiden unterschiedliche Ports? This _might_ help as your problem _seems_ to be boincmgr connecting to boinc. There is a German Boinc FAQ here Deutsche BOINC FAQ and a good manual for Boinc is the BOINC Powered Projects Documentation by Paul D. Buck and the FAQ therein.
EDIT: Unfortunately neither site seems to say what a 'init_poll: get_socket_error(): 111' is, sorry :( PS: Have you tried passing your account key and the host address to boinc on the command line when you start it. eg: ./boinc -attach_project http://setiathome.berkeley.edu df0d93e384a2700f70e0bc45a1b2c96c use the host name and account key you recieved in the email ____________ Need help? I can't even https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/406393-11-1-BOINC-fails-error-2 set project or anything. Root running gives no joy. Clues, anyone? When boinc installs, the menu items and icons seem to want to run boincmgr. Boinc starts but doesn't appear to run, as you describe. The solution is to make sure you start it with run_manager instead. Also, if you leave it running like I do, when you reboot it always reverts to running boincmgr. You have to close it and start run_manager. If you can't get that going, look at the later BOINC thread for some clues.
