Solved Invalid Argument Error Microsoft Access 2003 SP3 Posted on 2012-09-20 MS Access MS SQL Server 2008 Query Syntax 3 Verified Solutions 13 Comments 624 Views Last Modified: invalid argument 2013-01-30 For about three days, I have been trying to make one simple, make table, query run properly. The query seems to run right up until few seconds or so and then it errors out with the following error message: Invalid Argument Once it errors out, I cannot save the query. I get the same error message. I must save the query first and then run. I have invalid argument error ported this query to three different servers and the result is the same. Two servers are local and one is the other at our provider in Charlotte, NC (Titan Technologies). Titan is the administrator of our JD Edwards ERP system. All of the servers are using Microsoft Access 2003 SP3. I suspect that the problem could be related to the fact that the result of this query will be a table with about 3 1/2 million records. Am I just asking too much of Microsoft access? My query: SELECT PRODDTA_F0911.* INTO [tblF0911(GDS-4160-09202012-02)] FROM PRODDTA_F0911 WHERE (((PRODDTA_F0911.GLAID)="00638625") AND ((PRODDTA_F0911.GLSBLT)="W")); I have also attempted to run the query using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Studio and I cannot seem to get it to create a table. I can display the 3.5MM records but that is too many to past into an Excel file or table. SELECT PRODDTA.F0911.* INTO [tblF0911(GDS-4160-09202012-02)] FROM PRODDTA.F0911 WHERE (((PRODDTA.F0911.GLAID)='00638625') AND ((PRODDTA.F0911.GLSBLT)='W')); Ideas? 0 Question by:Tom Winslow Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 4 Best Solution byrshq Hi Please see this link maybe help http://support.microsoft.com/kb/835416 Go to Solution 13 Comments LVL 22 Overall: Level 22 MS Access 21 Query Syntax 8 MS SQL Server 2008 4 Message Active today Expert Comment by:Kel

What causes this? vba ms-access access-vba ms-access-2010 share|improve this question asked Feb 25 '14 at 8:45 BFWebAdmin 2,12763167 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted The name of the table you're trying to create (in the above example expressed as strTableName) is not valid - it's probably either null or too long. The names of Access 2010 tables can be no longer than 64 characters. If strTableName is not null and has fewer than 64 characters, the above code will work perfectly. share|improve this answer edited Feb 26 '14 at 14:57 answered Feb 25 '14 at 8:45 BFWebAdmin 2,12763167 1 Or strTableName could be Null –4dmonster Feb 25 '14 at 9:52 @4dmonster - Yes, good point - in short, anything that creates an invalid table name would generate this error. –BFWebAdmin Feb 25 '14 at 10:08 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
