When I run a simple UPDATE query (e.g. as follows) that works fine in MS Access 2007 version, I get the pop-up error message "Invalid Argument". Code: UPDATE [Store List] SET invalid argument [Store List].Manager = "John" WHERE ((([Store List].Manager)="Mike")); The database is well below the 2GB limit. Another weird phenomenon is: when I manually change some values using copy-paste upon the table, the error "Invalid Argument" pops up too; if I ignore it and continue pasting the new values, the update can be done. How to deal with this issue? Thanks in advance. lookingforK View Public Profile Find More Posts by lookingforK 06-24-2013, 12:40 PM #2 SOS Registered ms access invalid Lunatic Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Somewhere between here and there Posts: 3,520 Thanks: 2 Thanked 54 Times in 52 Posts Re: Got pop-up error "Invalid Argument" when using UPDATE query in MS Access 2010 It may not be that query that is causing the problem. It may be something else. Go to the VB Window and to DEBUG > COMPILE and see if any errors show up. If so, fix and do it again until there are none. Sometimes the errors that Access reports have nothing to do with the actual problem. The field is a choice field and the table I'm updating indicates the exact value of one of the choices. Both SharePoint and my internal table indicate the field (Folders) is a text format. I've ran this query many times but suddenly started to receive an error: Invalid Argument I've searched online and tried everything to no avail. The database is well under the limit. The SQL: UPDATE tbltest INNER JOIN [Title Clearing] ON (tbltest.[Number] = [Title Clearing].[Number]) AND (tbltest.Client = [Title Clearing].Client) SET [Title Clearing].Folders = [tbltest]![Folders]; sql ms-access ms-access-2010 share|improve this question edited Jul 21 '15 at 19:27 asked Jul 20 '15 at 16:08 user3738222 13 How are you running the query? With VBA? Also, MS Access tables are different from SharePoint lists. Please specify objects used and the whole code and finally please edit by breaking code line to avoid horizontal scrolling in post. –Parfait Jul 21 '15 at 0:31 I'm manaully running the query, not in vba... Right click/Open. That is the entire code, [Title Clearing] is referring to the linked SharePoint table. I'm just trying to change the multiple choice field with a group of numbers in the tbltest table. –user3738222 Jul 21 '15 at 19:31 Perhaps you mean [tbltest].[Folders] instead of [tbltest]![Folders] in the line reading SET [Title Clearing].Folders = [tbltest]![Folders]; –xQbert Jul 21 '15 at 19:31 add a comment| active oldest votes Know someone who can answer?
