As of two days ago, MTA stacks will not start. I know this is not needed in non-mixed mode but we use a 3rd party pop connector so we need to run MTA. When service tries to start, it reports immediately it didn't respond to the start event in the alloted time. http://www.techrepublic.com/forums/discussions/unable-to-start-microsoft-exchange-mta-stacks-service-in-exchange-server-03/ System log logs the following: Event ID: 7000 The Microsoft Exchange MTA Stacks service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Event ID: 7009 Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the Microsoft Exchange MTA Stacks service to connect. That's it. All other Exchange (and all other services for that matter) start https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/4bfb30fc-5f90-4592-9e65-17d9b27b2480/mta-stacks-wont-start?forum=exchangesvrgenerallegacy with no problems and no other errors are generated. I've verified the mtadata database files contain no errors, even did a wipe. Ran the ExTRA tool that found no problems. I can't see any reason for this not to start. I've gone through all MS and other suggestions I can find to no avail and I'm left with either some hope of a response from here or to contact MS. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Confirm the MTADATA\RUN path from registry. HKEY-system-current control set-services-MSEXCHANGEMTA-parameters-MTA RUN directory 2. Go to RUN directory and checkACSE.TPL that its there or missing. 3. If it is not there there replaced this file from any other server, Make sure creation date should be 02/02/1998, ThGROUP SPONSORED BY EXCLAIMER See more RELATED PROJECTS New Server Room Our company moved from one building to another in the office park they had been in for the last 13 years, and https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/304385-exchange-2003-services-won-t-start needed direction on how to move to a new server room. TECHNOLOGY IN THIS DISCUSSION Join the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. microsoft exchange Join Now We have two Exchange servers in the organization, an Exchange 2003 box which is our current server and we are configuring a 2010 Exchange box to replace the 2003. This morning the 2003 box had all of the Exchange services shutdown, SMTP, MTA, System Attendant, etc. When I try to restart them I receive an error saying "Could not start the Simple Transfer Protocol (SMTP) service on Local Computer. Error 126: microsoft exchange mta The specified module could not be found." On the other services I get Could not start the service on Local computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." Does anyone have any ideas? I have checked to make sure the ExchSvr folder has System listed with full permissions, and have Googled everything I can think of. Unfortunately the 2010 box is not ready to be stood up as the primary or I would just move over to it. Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: HELP!
