This configuration was upgraded from 5.5, then Exchange 2000 and now 2003. Due to a IIS problem, the metadata was loss or destroyed, so, the only option was to reinstall IIS without knowing that Exchange will be affected, then reinstalled Exchange, SP1 and SP2, always using the /DISASTERRECOVERY option. After adding RESVC to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\InetInfo\Parameters [DispatchEntries] SMTPSVC NNTPSVC LDAPSVC IMAP4SVC POP3SVC RESVC the error is, a solid "Error 3: The System cannot find the path specified".
The service will not start, I think, but I may be wrong, that in a single server (like my case), reSVC isnot very relevant, but the messages stay in the queue are are not delivered to the mailboxes, all the other MSexchange services look ok. I may be missing something else. I tried reinstallations of IIS and Exchange, rebooting after each step, and nothing was able to solve the issue. I have no clue,,, To test, I installed Exchange Server in another system, in the same domain: running "WinRoute" in the new server show no problems with the routing, on the 'real' one, WinRoute will not run, I think that the link state TCP port 691 is offered the REsvc...To my untrained eye, ADsiedit.msc nothing abnormal. The same data is shared with the other server, so, I do not think the problem is on AD. I have followed TechNet's guide and have used the Windows 2003 Server CDs to reinstall Exchange using the /disasterrecovery setting, but that doesn't seem to make any difference. windows-server-2003 exchange-2003 share|improve this question asked Nov 23 '09 at 22:03 Brett Rigby http://serverfault.com/questions/87545/exchange-routing-engine-will-not-start 212212 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted the exchange routing engine depends on the iis admin service. is the iis admin service running? are there any error messages when you manually try to start the exchange routing engine service? are there any events in the event log related to the routing engine? have you recently made changes to or had problems with iis on the server? are you able to start the imap or pop3 services? share|improve this answer answered Nov 24 '09 at 1:13 joeqwerty 83.6k247122 add a comment| Did you find this question interesting?
