For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 302573 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302573/ ) How to back up and restore IIS Method 2If no backup of the metabase exists, you can run the Exchange Setup program with the /reinstall switch. This will cause the Exchange Setup program to copy all the Exchange Server files and to replace missing entries in the metabase. You must also reapply any service packs and hotfixes. If you have not recently removed IIS, it may be a good idea to try to determine the cause of the metabase corruption. If other IIS services are affected and will not start, you may have to remove and reinstall IIS before you complete the reinstallation of Exchange. So uninstalled IIS reinstalled IIS. Tried to reinstall exchange thru cd1 microsoft exchange setup. stuck in loop cannot stopp iis admin service. Seems as though its the smtp services that willl not stop. Cannot stop the service thru services.msc. I had to get it back to client first thing Monday so I reinstalled sbs completely as I felt it was the only guarantteed solution I had at the time. The original sympton was no email. Then we noticed IIS not installed, it was reinstalled thru add and remove programs and then this loop with the routing engine not starting and unable to reinstall exchange as noted in the original question. 2 questions do I give you the points you advise?
