that you do not have enough space remaining in the disk, when in reality, you there is not enough disk space. free enough disk space and then try again may have lots of space left. These circumstances may leave you worried about the health of your hard disk. Well, don’t start worrying yet. file too large to copy to external hard drive If you face a problem like the one mentioned above, always open up My Computer and look at the drive where you were trying to deposit the file. Look for the file system of the partition where you http://www.patrickomalley.com/cannot-copy-file-there-is-not-enough-free-disk-space-delete-files.html were going to put the copied file. There is a high probability that the file system is FAT32. This is a pretty old file system that can only support files with size less than or equal to 4 GB. If you try to copy files that are larger than 4 GB, the file system will throw up an error message, saying that there is not enough space left in the destination drive. The problem is that disc http://www.liutilities.com/articles/cant-copy-large-file-despite-larger-free-hd-space/ images from CD/DVD or movie files are often larger than 4 GB. So if you have a drive formatted with FAT32 file system, you will have to convert it to NTFS file system before you can copy substantially large files. NTFS should be able to comfortably handle such large files that FAT32 cannot even support, let alone copy. In order to convert the file system of a drive to NTFS, click on Start button, and choose “Run”. In the box named “Open”, type the following command: Convert C: /fs:NTFS (where C is the partition letter which you are trying to convert to NTFS). Answer both of the two questions that follow with Yes. If the concerned drive contains the operating system that you are presently running, then it will be converted when you restart your PC. Nothing else will be altered, and your operating system and all installed software should run just as smoothly as before. Be warned, however, that this conversion is irreversible. If you wish to switch back to FAT32 file system in future, you will have to format the hard disk partition again, and the change in file system will destroy all data irrecoverably. I am using the server as a file server ( I have created a share, gave it all the permissions, maped it as not enough a network drive Z: and named it "data") and also as an exchange server with a global mailbox. Everything was working fine for more than a month in all pcs, users had access to the exchange and also were able to use the data file on the server to save files. My problem is that only from there is not 1 pc i cannot save anything to the Z:. When i right click and select properties of Z: i have only there is only 4,00KB free space, whereas i have 40GB free space on the server disk. When I try to copy a file to the Z: then i have the follwoing message: "Cannot copy ****. There is not enough free disk space. Delete one or more files to free disk space and then try again." The problem exists only in 1 of 5 pcs on the network and started yesterday. Before that all 5 pcs were working correctly. I have checked all the permissions of the user and they are exaclty the same as all other users, which means that there should not be a problem. Can you help me with this?
