Sign in to vote Hi, Please check if the security update KB951748 is installed on the server. If so, please uninstall it, restart the server and check if the issue goes away. Based on my research, the root cause of the issue is Service Pack mismatch on the server. It causes incompatibility between the security update and SP1 and that’s why you encounter this issue. If the issue is urgent, you can contact Microsoft Customer Service not enough storage is available to complete this operation sql Support (CSS) for instant assistance. If you have no indication of the reason for the failure, you might tryusing the slipstreamed operating system source (i.e. Windows Server 2003 + SP2) to rerun the OS install on top of existing installation...hthMarcin Tuesday, December 29, 2009 7:27 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote The service pack still wont install. I cannot get on the internet from it so my only option was to transfer from a network share to the "D" drive. I have 1.5gb of free space on "C" and moved the service pack uninstall folder to "D" adn it still fails every time. I have gone through the the first 5 steps and not luck. This is the doc I am using. Verify that this is a valid IP address for the server computer. If it is NOT valid use the Interfaces dialog under Server Properties in the DNS Manager to remove it from the list of IP interfaces. Then stop and restart the DNS server. (If this was the only IP interface on this machine and the DNS server may not have started as a result of this error. In that case remove the DNS\Parameters\ ListenAddress value in the services section of the registry and restart.) If this is a valid IP address for this machine, make sure that no other application (e.g. another DNS server) is running that would attempt to use the DNS port. Solved Can not start DNS Server Service Posted on 2008-07-21 SBS DNS 2 Verified Solutions 7 Comments not enough 9,759 Views Last Modified: 2011-10-11 Hi, I have a problem with an SBS 2003 machine. A few days ago the server restarted because of Windows Updates and when it restarted I received a message about some services not being able to start. I looked in Event Viewer and found an error saying that DNS could not start because there is not enough not enough storage storage available. I found that the C drive had run out of space, so I freed up more than 3Gb of space. I then went back and tried to manually start the service but I receive the error below. I have also attached two further errors found in the DNS log. Could not start the DNS server service on Local computer. Error 14: Not enough storage is available to complete this operation To workaround this I have had to add Hosts files to each PC but I need to find a long term solution, as I have no internet access on the server. The most-visible error is Event ID 1059 and the Event Viewer message is: "The DHCP service failed to see a directory server for authorization." The setup features two domain controller and the usual services and roles (file, print, Exchange). Restarting the service fails for a variety of reasons. I've had the following messages at different times: "Not enough storage is available to complete this operation". "Unable to determine the DHCP Server version for the Server 192.168.x.x" "The DHCP service has detected that it is running on a DC and has no credentials configured for use with Dynamic DNS registrations initiated by the DHCP service." A reboot of the domain controller resolves the issue for ~2 weeks. The systems are virtualized and there are no network connectivity issues. Any ideas as to what's happening here? Edit - The solution seems to be to fix a misbehaving domain controller. windows-server-2008 active-directory dhcp-server share|improve this question edited Jul 15 '13 at 22:40 asked May 21 '12 at 13:43 ewwhite 151k47296576 I understand that it might sound a little silly, but have you tried this: technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc774849%28v=ws.10%29.aspx –George May 21 '12 at
