If so, please uninstall it, restart the server and check if the issue goes away. Based on my research, the root cause of the issue is Service Pack mismatch on the server. It causes incompatibility between the security update and SP1 and that’s why you encounter this issue. If the issue is urgent, you can contact Microsoft Customer Service Support (CSS) for instant assistance. Solved Can not start DNS Server Service Posted on 2008-07-21 SBS DNS 2 Verified Solutions 7 Comments 9,758 Views Last Modified: 2011-10-11 Hi, I have a problem with an SBS 2003 machine. A few days ago https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/27fa1736-fd8f-4e70-ae83-185ab3c0ce86/dns-error-14-not-enough-storage-available?forum=winserverDS the server restarted because of Windows Updates and when it restarted I received a message about some services not being able to start. I looked in Event Viewer and found an error saying that DNS could not start because there is not enough storage available. I found that the C drive had run out of space, so I freed up more than 3Gb of space. I then went back and tried https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23582052/Can-not-start-DNS-Server-Service.html to manually start the service but I receive the error below. I have also attached two further errors found in the DNS log. Could not start the DNS server service on Local computer. Error 14: Not enough storage is available to complete this operation To workaround this I have had to add Hosts files to each PC but I need to find a long term solution, as I have no internet access on the server. Hard to say exactly, but you might try the following: 1. Uninstall/reinstall DNS server. If this is an AD-integrated DNS server it should just automatically regenerate your zone files though you may want to back them up just to be safe. Of course if it's never started properly it probably doesn't matter 2. Apply or re-apply the latest service pack. 3. Reboot the server (after 1 and/or 2). 4. A remote possibility is the registry is too small but you'd have to have a really big network--if this is a DC/global catalog--or a machine where you're really throwing a huge amount of applications on to have the base registry size became full. And Windows 2003 is supposed to grow the registry hive as needed, unless you are using an older service pack and the /3gb switch. 5. And lastly you may be having some kind of network connectivity issue. Not sure if this machine is part of an AD domain or comp
