Object could not be found." Outlook03 & Exchange03 (31.May2008 3:16:12 PM) Rules & Alerts Fail. "The operation Failed. An Object could not be found." Outlook03 & Exchange03 backed up my Exchange mailboxes today and suddenly Rules no longer run. Outlook 2003 & Exchange 2003 When I select
Outlook 2013 Auto Archive The Attempted Operation Failed
Rules & Alerts from tools all I get is the message "The operation Failed. An Object could the attempted operation failed outlook 2016 not be found." The mailbox seems to be working fine otherwise - except no rules are running. I tried it on my laptop which was the operation failed. an object cannot be found outlook 2007 tasks otherwise off and got the same results. I deleted the exchange mailbox from outlook and readded it - no change. I went to the server and reinstalled Exchange and reappied SP2, no help I've searched the MS tech site with nothing http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_outlook-msoffice_custom/why-do-i-get-a-rules-in-error-the-operation-failed/ce342bb7-b8b7-4fdc-8846-a4e9d515127b even close to being on point. There's nothing in the event logs on either the server or the workstation. So no help there. It was working this morning. The only thing I can remember doing today is backing up the exchange mailboxes with MS backup. Something I've done numerous times before w/o problems. Only difference is that this time I also selected the backup exchange server (has no mailboxes on it, but is running exchange) in the backup. Anyone have any bright ideas where http://forums.msexchange.org/m_1800475807/printable.htm to look? I'd sure appriciate any help you can offer. Thanks in advance Sembee -> RE: Rules & Alerts Fail. "The operation Failed. An Object could not be found." Outlook03 & Exchange03 (1.Jun.2008 2:19:53 PM) The Microsoft tools don't allow you to backup the mailboxes, unless you use some script method with exmerge. An NTBACKUP only backs up the entire information store. That certainly shouldn't stop rules from working. Perhaps you should be sure on what you have done? What happens if you try and set rules in OWA? Does it affect all users on the server? Simon. MonsterMaxx -> RE: Rules & Alerts Fail. "The operation Failed. An Object could not be found." Outlook03 & Exchange0 (1.Jun.2008 3:00:11 PM) Umm, hate to admit it, but I didn't think of testing another mailbox. Another user's mailbox works fine. So it's something to do with mine and is NOT something that's changed on the local machine (because I tested it on my laptop and it was the same problem.) The backup software I used was simply ntbackup.exe. There's a Microsoft Exchange Service in there, expand that it shows the servers, expand them and it shows 'Microsoft Information Store'. I checked them and ran the backup. Is there any kind of 'rebuilder' 'checker' or something for an Exchange mailbox? I see the mailbox recovery center, but when I try to add my username it can't find it (nor can it find the other user I tested that is working.) de.black
Phicis, Jan 17, 2008. Phicis Guest We have a user that since a few weeks have problems with his rules in Outlook. When he wants to open "Rules and Alerts" the users get the following error: http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/outlook-error-when-using-rules-the-operation-failed-an-object-couldnot-be-found.3388533/ "The operation failed. An object could not be found". I already added a new http://office-outlook.com/outlook-forum/index.php/t/67835/ profile in the Mail Setup(Control Panel => Mail) but that doesn't solve the problem. Does anyone know how to solve the problem. Francis. Phicis, Jan 17, 2008 #1 Advertisements Roady [MVP] Guest Re: Outlook error when using rules: The operation failed. An object could not be found Hi Francis, did you try the "detect and repair" for Office 2003? In Error: The Operation Failed.Home» General Outlook opportunities» Outlook Rules In Error: The Operation Failed. [message #194599] Mon, 30 July 2007 11:46 vsubbotinMessages: 1Registered: July 2007 Junior Member Hi 2 All! I've faced with very strange problem: I have rule fires after arrival of the letter and execute VBA script ("run a script" option) located in the ThisOutlookSession Module. It looks like: ------ Sub FailTest(Item As MailItem) 'Log ("FailTest") End Sub ------ Yes, it does nothing :) In the original there was a useful logic, but I've simplified code to localize a place of raising of exception. So, in general this code works fine. BUT sometimes after arrival of the message it spontaneously fails with message: "Rules In Error", "The Operation Failed". And then my rule turns off. It occurs on the average 3-5 times day. I can't determine what exactly causes error :( I suppose that exception is raised in the Rules Manager (or Wizard) while it tries to call my VBA script & pass there arrived mail as parameter. I tried to find solution of the problem or work around, but I've found nothing :( Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?
