Solved Outlook - Operation Failed message when sending mail Posted on operation failed 2013-01-28 Outlook Exchange 2 Verified Solutions 12 Comments 22,545 Views Last Modified: 2016-01-24 We have some users that use Outlook 2010 and have recently changed from online mode (Exchange 2010) to cache mode. For the most part. things are working well, however some users occasionally get an error dialog when trying to send an email message. The error message simply says the operation failed 'Operation Failed' and the message will not send. Typically if they save it as a 'draft' and then open and close Outlook and then resend it from the drafts folder it will send ok. It is becoming a nuisance and not sure why it is only happening to 2-3 users out of the 15-20 we recently converted to cache mode.... 0 Question by:snyperj Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 3 Best Solution byDhanukadam Symptoms: An Outlook client may receive an “Operation failed” error message in Outlook when the following conditions are true: - The client is Outlook 2007 or 2010 in online mode. Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now Hey Guys, I am receiving a very obtuse error message from Outlook, only affecting 1 user however. When sending emails; that is when she clicks on Send, she receives in an warning message dialog box with the word Operation Failed in the body and there is only an okay button to press, the title for the box is Microsoft Office Outlook. I have tried the obvious steps: 1. Re-create Email Profile with both Cached mode on and off. 2. Deleted Office 2007 and installed Office 2010 3. Updated to the latest version. Looking into the error it states it may be a result if a user has gone over their mailbox quota, I have tried turning quota off, giving unlimited quota and also increasing quota size to an amount normally set on boxes and that has had no effect. I have read also it can be caused by the html email signature which I have tried removing, even tried sending the email in plain text. I've only been able to narrow it down to the fact it happens when she is replying to emails and she has a few emails open on the screen, every other program runs fine and running Outlook's Connection Status everything is fine. The user is connecting to a local Exchange 2007 server. Has anyone else been able to solve this annoying issue? Is this problem happening everytime the person sends an email ? Is it to one email address only or everyone ? Have you tried sending internally and externally ? Have you considered trying the user on another machine as a test to see if it's just a machine issue, if so you could setup a new windows user profile just incase that's corrupt. 0 Serrano OP Carol Nestor Aug 11, 2011 at 8:44 UTC I've seen something
