Outlook The Operation Failed An Object Cannot Be Found
when sending mail Posted on 2013-01-28 Outlook Exchange 2 Verified Solutions 12 Comments 22,545 Views Last Modified: 2016-01-24 We have some users that use Outlook 2010 and have recently changed from online mode (Exchange 2010) to cache mode. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2763886 For the most part. things are working well, however some users occasionally get an error dialog when trying to send an email message. The error message simply says 'Operation Failed' and the message will not send. It is becoming a nuisance and not sure why it is only happening https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28011106/Outlook-Operation-Failed-message-when-sending-mail.html to 2-3 users out of the 15-20 we recently converted to cache mode.... 0 Question by:snyperj Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 3 Best Solution byDhanukadam Symptoms: An Outlook client may receive an “Operation failed” error message in Outlook when the following conditions are true: - The client is Outlook 2007 or 2010 in online mode. My guess is that their .ost file did not build properly when you made the change over to cached exchange mode. Occasionally when an .ost file is building something happens during the process and the .ost file becomes corrupt. If you disable cached exchange mode, close Outlook, delete .ost, launch Outloook, close Outlook, re-enable cached exchange mode and let the .ost file rebuild. That should resolve the issue. 0 LVL 3 Overall: Level 3 Exchange 2 Outlook 2 Message Accepted Solution by:Dhanukadam2013-01-28 Symptoms: An Outlook client may receive an “Operation failed” error message in Outlook when the following conditions are true: - The client is Outlook 2007 or 2010 in online mode. "The operation failed." Then in a little while , without clicking on send/receive = the email will come in. Did you review the operation failed the other results for possibilities? Do you have the latest Office service packs installed? Kitch, Jun 12, 2005 #4 bobkatbf Thread Starter Joined: Sep 23, 2003 Messages: 190 The emails do arrive in my Inbox. But not when I click on "Send/Receive". But what is weird is that my emails go out immediately that I send. I guess that I tend to be leary of Service Packs- but maybe I shouldn't be that way! Can you eliminate the secondary accounts? 0 Datil OP Lee May 15, 2013 at 7:50 UTC On a side note, if this machine has Windows 7 try using the snipping tool for screen caps instead of printscreen. There is a bit of personal info on that screen shot that I would not feel comfortable in sharing if it were me. 2 Ghost Chili OP Jeremy_B May 15, 2013 at 7:52 UTC You could try renaming (profile_name.srs) file to profile_name.srs.old and let Outlook create a new one. That will reset any connection settings stored which could be the culprit. It could also relate to multiple accounts as Lee mentioned. Also few people will bother opening a document to look at a picture, maybe save it and attach it w/o the personal info in it? 0 Serrano OP Gary3057 May 15, 2013 at 7:52 UTC Check there are no errant characters in the to: cc: etc, had this yesterday due to my fat fingers. G 0 Ghost Chili OP Kelly Armitage May 15, 2013 at 7:53 UTC Have you tried Outlook in safe mode? outlook.exe /safe If that solves it, try disabling any/all addons, and re-enable them one at a time after testing each. 0 Datil OP Lee May 15, 2013 at 7:56 UTC This will probably aggravate the user, but try clearing the auto-complete list to check if this issue persists.
