Solved Outlook 2003 Crashes with error "microsoft office outlook has stopped working" Posted on 2012-03-20 Outlook MS Office Exchange 5 Verified Solutions 11 Comments 1,686 Views Last Modified: 2012-04-19 I have a computer running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with Office 2003 SP3 (both fully patched). Outlook is connected to https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27640100/Outlook-2003-Crashes-with-error-microsoft-office-outlook-has-stopped-working.html an Exchange 2010 server. Outlook will crash randomly while switching messages in the Inbox. It does not appear happen on one particular message or message type, it just randomly hangs up. Outlook will display the "microsoft office outlook has stopped working" error, close and re-open. When it re-opens you have to open the reading pane back up. There are several other users with this same configuration, but this seems to be the only one with troubles. Inside the event log Event ID 1000 is logged in the application log: Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 11.0.8326.0, time stamp: 0x4c1c2372 Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17725, time stamp: 0x4ec49b8f Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00038dc9 Faulting process id: 0x214 Faulting application start time: 0x01cd069285913e19 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll Select all Open in new window It has become very annoying as this happens quite a bit when reading new e-mails that come in. 0 Question by:bdht

Solved Outlook 2003 persistent crashing Posted on 2012-04-27 Outlook Windows 7 SBS 3 Verified Solutions 3 Comments 1,629 Views Last Modified: 2012-06-27 On one machine (Win 7, 32 bit, Outlook 2010) it only started when AVG was installed. outlook 2003 Running a scanpst.exe on the ost seemed to fix it. But this took hours to run. On another machine (Win 7, 32 bit, Outlook 2003) which was temperamental running the scanpst.exe on the ost file got performance back up but the problem then seems to recur. The issue is most symptomatic on a Windows 7, 64 bit, Outlook 2003 machine which is what this ticket is about. ¿ A detect and repair outlook 2003 ntdll.dll has been done ¿ A reinstall of Outlook 2003 (soft, i.e. keeping system files) has been done ¿ Using scanpst.exe on both the ost file and the pst archive has been done. o This found issues on most machines. o This resolved the issue on atleast one machine. ¿ We have cloud based scanning so the secondary workstation AVG scanning was temporarily disabled as a test. The error keeps recurring. The user reported several times an hour, I have found three crashes in one day in the logs. NB, when trying to open a set Calendar it crashes instantly. That was from a secondary account, closed and re-opened that from email setup/advance which worked. It looks to me that something keeps corrupting the ost files. Potentially VPN? The user has his own account, a group large mailbox, an archive and two other mailboxes so a significant load but probably fairly common. Most crashes are on ntdll.dll but there are some others as well, recent ones below.
