Have you tried creating a new Profile in Outlook 2003 to see if Replies work in the new profile? With Outlook 2003 closed, create a new Profile, Control Panel > Mail Icon > Show Profiles Change the selection to: Prompt for a Profile to be used Click the: Add button. Name the new profile. Recreate your e-mail the operation failed outlook 2003 new email account. Start Outlook 2003 and select the new Profile. Do not upgrade or import anything from another profile at this time. Send a Test message addressed to yourself, when you receive it, see if you can use the Reply option without errors. Let us know what happens. Hi EAFiedler, Thanks for your prompt reply. I was tried to create a new profile before & try to send a new message, but failed. When I click for New Mail, forward or reply icon on my outlook 2003. The error message shown operation failed. I did to un-install & re-install my Office 2003 application, but it desn't help. i have no idea now. (This was a regular email, with no attachments)So http://www.techrepublic.com/forums/discussions/outlook-2003-the-operation-failed-error/ outlook basically was not functioning. Every email that I was trying to open gave me an error "cant open this item". Something has to do with Word maybe, since There is "Word" window on "the operation failed". But I can't disable Word in the Options because he likes to reply in red font. I reinstalled Outlook, and the problem persists. I recreated his profile and will see today if my boss gonna shoot me. I checked for spyware and fully patched this machine. his mailbox is on exchange and 5gb in size. i dont know what else can i try? bomb microsoft? They are also using the latest GroupWise 7 software to access the GroupWise 7 email server. They are not able to reply to any messages using Outlook. They can forward the messages, but not reply. The error message says Microsoft Office Word The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook. Of course this is an endless cycle. There doesn't seem to be any reported issues of this. Any ideas?
