Outlook Restarting Tags: Office Outlook Email Apps Last response: July 9, 2010 4:14 PM in Apps General Discussion Share gramps98 July 7, 2010 1:36:22 PM Hello, I have a user who sends e-mail items fine, but if/when the recipient "Replies" to that e-mail, the recipients (responder's) Outlook gives them the message "MS Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close..." The responder then has to select whether to allow Outlook to restart and to send or not send an error report. However, if the recipient creates a "new" e-mail item, there is no problem sending to my user. It is only when someone "REPLIES" to one of his e-mails that the problem occurs. This seems to have started when I upgraded this https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2764344 user with a newer PC running XP Pro 64-bit. I installed MS Office 2003 Basic (same as was on the old machine)and transferred the user's archive folders, etc. After seeing the problem, I re-installed the user's old PC and he doesn't appear to have the problem...unless he forwards one of the e-mails that was created on the PC running XP 64-bit. I have deleted the user's profile an re-created it in the Exchange Server and on the local PC. http://www.tomsguide.com/forum/239872-49-outlook-restarting I have uninstalled Outlook and re-installed it. I'd appreciate any fresh ideas on my issue. B.T.W., I have the exact setup (machine and applications) for another user and he is not having this problem. Well, I remedied the issue by setting the user up another PC. He's happy and working fine now. I'm in the process of installing Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit on the PC that had the problem. Thanks again for the response. I'll remember that the next time I get one of these wierd ones. Gramps98 m 0 l Can't find your answer ? Ask ! button or when Outlook sends/receives by itself, Outlook crashes. I can still use all the other functions in Outlook and Outlook works just fine https://www.msoutlook.info/question/468 when I place it in Offline mode. However, it would be nice http://superuser.com/questions/40858/outlook-2003-only-wants-to-start-in-safe-mode-how-can-i-fix-this to be able to send/receive some new emails as well. How can I get Outlook back to work again? There are a couple of common causes and solutions for this. Note: If you are getting send/receive errors instead of crashes, see the guide; Send/Receive errors Disable outlook 2003 virus scanner integration This is really where to start. If you still have a virus scanner installed which integrates itself with Outlook, disable this integration and try again. Turning off your virus scanner will not disable its integration components. Consult the documentation of your virus scanner on how to properly disable its mail integration components. You can also opt outlook 2003 crashes to uninstall your virus scanner completely to make sure it cannot interfere while testing. Afterwards you can install it again without the mail scanning features or use Microsoft Security Essentials instead. Contrary to common beliefs, you are still fully protected if your virus scanner does not integrate with Outlook. Also see; Disable virus scanner integration? Reset send/receive settings Outlook keeps the send/receive settings in an srs-file. If this file gets corrupted somehow, the send/receive will crash. To reset your send/receive settings, all you have to do is renaming the srs-file to .old when Outlook is closed. You can find the file in the following location; Windows 7 and Windows Vista C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\ Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\ Note 1: The file is called

How can I fix this? up vote 2 down vote favorite 1 This is the error message that keeps poppung up: Microsoft Office Outlook Outlook failed to start correctly last time. Starting Outlook in safe mode will help you correct or isolate a startup problem in order to successfully start the program. Some functionality may be disabled in this mode. Do you want to start Outlook in safe mode? When I say "No", Outlook just crashes again, asking if it should send an error report to Microsoft and offers me the option to restart outlook again, which results in the Q asking if I want to start in safe mode again... Anyway, I've send a few dozens of error reports to MS, hoping it annoys them as much as it annoys me. It does make me feel a little better but doesn't solve the problem. So, how to solve this problem without re-installing Outlook? What happened before? The computer I use is at work. On friday, I worked at home and used a remote desktop connection to access the system. Not being able to turn it off and also wanting to work a little in the weekend, the computer was on during the whole weekend. (I was logged off, though.) On Monday-morning, the administrators fixed a problem in the network (don't know what they fixed) which resulted in a very slow start-up and a hung system after 10 minutes. A cold reboot was done, without network cable since the network was down and I started everything again. (The reset button didn't work either.) All just works fine again, except for Outlook. So it seems it got corrupt because of the cold reboot. We use Exchange for the mailboxes so those are stored online. I have a .PST file as archive
