There Was An Error Downloading The Software Update. (12029)
I've got two Servers: 1) CAS (with DB and Endpoint Protection on it, but NO Connection to the internet) 2) SUP for CAS (WITH connection to the

internet) I can download the updates for Endpoint Protection manually. But I want to download them by an Automatic Deployment Rule. If I try, I get this: PatchDownloader.log: Download http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/defu/2012/05/am_delta_patch_1.127.836.0_0b2a9bf23eda713e5153a4ecddb9326c3966e6b6.exe to C:\Windows\TEMP\CABDCEA.tmp returns 12029 ERROR: DownloadContentFiles() failed with hr=0x80072efd ruleengine.log: Failed to download the update from internet. Error = 12029 Failed to download ContentID there was an error downloading the software update. (12007) 6262 for UpdateID 7322. Error code = 12029 I set the proxy via "netsh.exe winhttp set proxy", but it didn't help. Obviously the download by Automatic Deployment Rule don't use the SUP-Server with the connection to the internet but the CAS-Server without the connection to the internet. Because of Security-issues I can't change the roles and the internet-connection of the two servers. Is there a possibility to configure SCCM, that the Automatic Deployment Rule uses the SUP for Update-download? Otherwise I can't use Endpoint Protection... Wednesday, May 30, 2012 1:45 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote I got an answer from a Microsoft-Consultant: He confirmed, that automatic deployment rules were executed from site server. So my scenario isn't possible. Suggestion is to download the updates by script via scheduled task... Thanks for your replies! Created a Rule for XP updates and ran it manually. IE browser is having proxy address configured and I am able to access internet with the account that is configured under Site system properties Under SUP settings I had "Use proxy server when sync software updates" selected, but "Use proxy server when downloading content by using Automatic deployment rules" was unchecked

Podcasts Wiki LogIn Software updates download, configuration with a remote SUP and a site server with no Internet access Forum: Config Manager Viewing 4 posts - 1 through 4 (of 4 total) February 8, 2011 at 5:16 am #84454 Anonymous Hello. The issue is easy to describe: software updates won't download. The synchronization is ok, I get there was an all the metadata - but there is no possibility to download the update files. Configuration: Site server: MP, DP, Console, DB on a remote server, no Internet connection WSUS server: WSUS (uses its own db, located on the same server), SUP role installed, connected to the Internet As I've sad, synchronization goes fine. What I've found till now, is that: "Remember, WSUS is used only for the synchronization of software updates metadata (!) and for clients to retrieve the software updates metadata that will be scanned for compliance" So, it is not WSUS and not a SUP role, that downloads the update file. The question is, what role or subsystem is downloading it? Which server in that configuration should have Internet access? May be I should install some specific role on the WSUS server to get it work? What I see in logs is that the site server is trying to connect to microsoft update site, and, of course, fails (PatchDownloader.log): Trying to connect to the root\SMS namespace on the SCCM01 machine.
