error when trying to connect to the pool there was a problem verifying the certificate from the server lync 2016 with Office Communicator: This is caused by the certificate on the server lync there was a problem verifying the certificate from the server vpn not matching the host name you are trying to connect to. Typically this is because the _sipinternaltls SRV record in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2014466 DNS is pointing to a physical OCS server instead of the pool name and the certificate on the server is (rightfully) issued for the pool name. Adding Subject Alternate Names in the certificate for the physical server(s) is not the right https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/kpalmvig/2009/01/07/troubleshoot-office-communicator-problem-verifying-certificate/ approach to solve this issue. After correcting the SRV record, remember to flush the DNS cache on the client. might get an error message "Problem verifying certificate from the server.".This message means that the computer you are on does not trust http://www.returnbooleantrue.com/2011/10/microsoft-office-communicator-problem.html the certificate that is being presented to it.The first way to troubleshoot this is to figure out what certificate it is receiving. The easiest way I've found to do https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Sign-in-to-Communicator-e97591a0-3933-408c-a60d-8a9d799e365f this is to use openssl's s_client:openssl s_client -connect lcs.example.com:5061By doing this you will see the entire certificate chain. You now need to go into the windows certificate management tools there was and make sure that chain is valid.Generally this will involve running mmc.exe, then adding the snap in "Certificate Management" for the computer itself.Another option is to cut and paste the BEGIN and END certificate lines into a text file. Name the text file with a .der extension and install the certificate. Then browse to the certificate in MMC there was a and see if anything is wrong. Things that might go wrong include the validity date or being unable to trust the certificate chain (most likely from missing certificates). If you are missing certificates you need to track them down and install them. After this is done you should be able to connect to communicator server. Posted by Jeff Tchang at 2:17 PM Labels: microsoft office communicator 1 comment: asa138 said... Please elaborate a little.
