An error occurred while creating the backup directory. My configuration: Unibody Macbook Pro error occurred while 15" (circa September 2008) & Western Digital Passport 500GB (USB HDD), OS X 10.5.7 (up-to-date). The problem is gone for the time being but I'd like to find a better solution than "reboot and pray". osx mac time-machine share|improve this question asked Jul 28 '09 at 21:46 pix0r 3582512 I've had the same issue as well and a bit of tinkering like you've said seems to "fix" it for a while. 14, 2014 9:40PM Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), 2TB, 16GB RAM When ever I try to do a 'back-up' to my Time Capsule I get the following message: "Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder." Unfortunately there is no actual Error Code or number given for the error. Any advice or suggestions would be helpful, thanx. Also, unrelated, why is my version of Google Drive only in Spanish and not English... how do I change it? Then try to initiate a new backup from the Time Machine icon in the menu bar at the top. Next, if that does not work, try unplugging the Time Capsule (make sure no other Macs are in the middle of backing up first), waiting 20 seconds, then plugging it back in. I had tried both suggestions previously but this time I just turned off the Mac and unplugged the Time Capsule and took a 1/2 day off (played golf and had dinner with some friends). When I came back, I (cautiously) restarted the Mac and plugged in the Time Capsule… AND EVERYTHING WORKS!!! I truly appreciate your help.
