standard Time Machine interface is that Time Machine keeps failing. You need to check the system logs to see the Error multiple time machine backups 11. The underlying cause of Error 11 appears to be some other error that caused an earlier Time Machine run to terminate without cleaning up after itself. Enter these commands: $ cd /Volumes $ ls You should see your remote-mounted disk here. For simplicity, let's say it appears as Backup. Type ls -ls Backup. You should see a .sparsebundle file with a name based on your machine's name and hex MAC address. I'm not sure exactly how these names are constructed, but for simplicity's sake, I'll pretend the name is mymachine.sparsebundle. Check that root has both read and write access to this file. If not, you probably mounted the disk with read-only access. Type hdiutil attach Backup/mymachine.sparsebundle/ -noverify -noautofsck -readwrite. This command, which must be typed on a single line substituting the name for your sparsebundle file, mounts the actual backup image. It will take a bit to finish. (Without the -noverify and -noautofsk options, it can take hours! The -readwrite option is probably the default.) Type ls -ls. There should now be an additional volume visible. Again, I'm not sure the name is always const

This error usually shows up if there is a problem in copying some damaged directory of files in you Mac, so the first thing which need to be checked is with your logs and time machine try to find out which file has failed to get backed up and try to exclude that folder or file then your backup should work without any issues. Sometimes the indexing which was previously done with the Spotlight application might cause the problem of giving the backup failed error. So just try to reset your Sportlight application to reindex all the files and then try starting the Time Machine backup which time machine backup should make it work without any issues. Try the Apple hardware test with your Mac and check if some error is showing up if so then you need to fix those which might be the major cause for the backup problem too. If you are not able to do that then try to reach the nearby apple centre to get it fixed as soon as possible. Hi................, Time machine app fails when it is unable to copy paste some data. If data is corrupt and fails to copy . Reset sportlight application to re index all the files. You can try hardware reset. You can also do system factory setting.
