I discovered that with the installation of Mountain Lion the network hosst name was changed.from baggeraar's-imac to baggeraars-imac. when I made a new time machine backup in the web based configurator of the Iomega NAS with the new host name, the problem was solved. I have Time Machine setup to backup to this time machine backup drive exclusively; this hard drive serves no other purpose. My problem is that every time I put my laptop to sleep or logout of my user and then wakeup/log back in, the hard drive icon changes from the Time Machine backup drive icon to the regular USB hard drive icon. I've noticed too that my scheduled backups have been failing: 6/20/12 5:56:06 AM: Starting standard backup 6/20/12 5:56:06 AM: Error -35 while resolving alias to backup target 6/20/12 5:56:16 AM: Backup failed with error: 19 The advice from the interwebs indicates that my hard drive needs to be in 'Time Machine mode' in order for the backup to work correctly. Up till now I've been manually initiating the backup. The other piece of my setup is that I'm using TimeMachineEditor since I don't need hourly backups; daily backups are just fine. The backup interval is protected in El Capitan and cannot be changed when System Integrity Protection (SIP) is enabled (and it is enabled by default). The only way to get TM Error Logger to change the Backup Interval is to disable SIP. However, you will need to decide if you want to do that because it is a system-wide change and makes your Mac less secure (reduces it to a security level equal to versions of OS X prior to El Capitan. (MacOS 10.10 or later required for Outlook Notifications). However, Apple's Mail app is still the default. You can change that by running the Mail app and selecting Preferences / General / Default email reader Note that it is possible that Outlook Express and Entourage also work but have not been tested. They will most likely only work when they have been installed as standalone apps instead of being part of Microsoft Office. Thunderbird is still not supported due to the lack of Applescript support in that app for sending mail. 3.1 10/12/14 Fix - Previous Log was not working to show any Time Machine errors from the previous day.
