the paper tray lifting portion of POST. You can see the paper lifting in the tray by observing from the rear of the printer. Very shortly afterwards, the printer starts making a loud banging noise from the hp p4015 printer 60.02 error area of the lifter motor assy and you can watch it move back and forth as hp laserjet 4250 error codes the printer bangs.I replaced the lifter assy and still does the same thing. I reconnected the old one without mounting it and you can rm1-1750 see the motor turning as it attempts to lift the paper. Remember, this is happening without the assy being in the printer. No Banging but still getting error 60.02.The question I have concerns a lever just forward of the https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/60-02-Error/td-p/5044277 lifter in the paper tray guide itself. On a 4250, it is spring loaded. The P4015 I am working on does not have a spring loaded lever. I removed the paper pick up drive assy so I could see if there were any broken parts and also to remove the forward tray guide which contains this lever. No broken parts that I could tell but on the lever in question, you can tell there is supposed to be a spring http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/77348 and there is a spring on the axle that looks like a 6 or 9 without an opposing tail to cause it to spring back. The illustration for the guide in the manual does not show a spring.Moe or dmzcompute - either one of you familiar with what I am looking at? It seems to me that this lever may be the keey to the banging. Respond to this 0 the white plastic lever IS spring loaded. by eric111 on Nov 14, 2014 at 12:03pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Make sure the backstop in the tray itself is positioned correctly. If to far forward it prevents the tray from lifting all the way and can cause that knocking noise. If that is not it, then the white gear on the right side of the paper tray is probably bad. by dmzcompute on Nov 14, 2014 at 3:01pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Paper lifts all the way with multiple trays. Confirmed the spring actuated lever on a working printer. by Zeb_Carter on Nov 17, 2014 at 10:56am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Well, the sage continues.I have replaced the right side tray guide as mentioned upthread. No change in operation. Still getting the banging AFTER the paper lifts to max height. I can find nothing wrong with the tray. Manually manipulating the floor of the pa
cause of this error is the lifter motor assembly located in the center of the right side of the printer along the bottom edge. A spring which is used to hold the assembly upright does http://tonerrefills.blogspot.com/2008/02/hp-4250-6002-error.html not provide enough tension so that when the paper tray is inserted the lifter motor does not engage properly with the paper tray. Our techs have found that a spring used in the HP 4v http://fix-your-printer.blogspot.com/2009/01/error-6002-on-hp-laserjet-4250-series.html toner cartridge has the same dimensions as the lifter motor spring but uses a heavier gauge steel. When the OEM spring is replaced with one of these the 60.02 error message will disappear. Below are 60.02 error instructions on how to replace the spring. The photo below shows the OEM spring on the left with the replacement spring from the 4v toner cartridge on the right.Tools Required: Phillips head screwdriver, small flat blade screwdriver, needle nose pliers, HP 4v toner cartridge spring.1 Remove the top rear cover and remove the 2 silver screws.2 Open top cover and remove toner cartridge. Remove 2 silver screws securing top 60.02 error hp cover.3 Remove paper tray.4 With a small flat blade screwdriver pry the rear door attachment arm toward the fusing assembly while gently pulling on the correspoding corner. Remove the rear fuser cover.5 Using needle nose pliers unclip the plastic arm from the inside of the top cover.6 Disconnect wire harness connecting top cover to DC Controller. Remove top cover.7 Push plastic formatter cover panel toward the back of the printer and remove.8 Swing metal formatter cover out slide up and remove.9 Push plastic side panel toward the back of printer to release plastic clip on the inside while gently pulling the panel away from the top. Remove panel.10 Remove OEM spring from lifter motor assembly and replace with HP 4v toner cartridge spring as shown.11 When reassembling the printer make sure the inside of the power switch button on the plastic side panel engages with the metal power switch slide bar on the inside of the printer. without enough tension on it. If the spring is removed and the motor assembly is allowed to fall to the right when the paper tray is inserted the motor never engages the tray and an error 60.02 appears. However if the motor assembly is held upright while the tray is inserted the error message never appears as the motor always engages.
