Solved: Outlook 2003 address list will not display Discussion in 'Business Applications' started by DCM1519, Oct 8, 2007. Thread outlook 2016 contacts not showing Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement DCM1519 Thread Starter Joined: Mar 8, 2005 outlook address book vs contacts Messages: 1,141 Today, I converted my PST file from Outlook 2000 format to the Outlook 2003 format and it works fine but tonight outlook 2016 address book not showing contacts when I went to send an email, the Contact list displayed but it would not enter any of the contacts into the "new" email that I wanted to send. An error message appeared and it says; https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/287563 "Address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened. It may have been moved or deleted or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the outlook address book, see Microsoft Outlook Help." I tried every word I can think of to search for a solution in the help section and nothing worked or even seemed helpful. I have https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-outlook-2003-address-list-will-not-display.635366/ also tried to import address lists from various sources but that does not work because the list is already there but not associated with the Contacts list present in my program. Any ideas on how to get my address list to work? EAFiedler, Oct 9, 2007 #2 DCM1519 Thread Starter Joined: Mar 8, 2005 Messages: 1,141 Thanks for the link I printed the Microsoft page and followed the instructions. Even though it is from Microsoft and applies to Outlook 2003, their instructions were not accurate as far as options when opening the various tabs but I was able to delete the old account and recreate it. It still does not show my list of contacts when I try to forward an email. My next step might be to reinstall Outlook 2003 DCM1519, Oct 9, 2007 #3 EAFiedler Moderator Joined: Apr 25, 2000 Messages: 14,042 Not as accurate? The steps mirror what my Outlook 2003 shows. What steps do not match up for you? EAFiedler, Oct 9, 2007 #4 DCM1519 Thread Starter Joined: Mar 8, 2005 Messages: 1,141

If the problem persists, restart Outlook. All other functionality appears to be fine within Outlook. Only accessing the address book seems to be at issue Reading through the articles here, I initially tried to create a new Exchange profile, yet still received the same error message. Then I started Outlook from the Run prompt using 'Outlook /safe' and I was successful in opening up the address book. So I am now wondering what I can do for a permanent fix so we do not have to run Outlook in safe mode. Since you were able to access your address book in Safe Mode, an addin is likely the cause. Go to Tools > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Addin Manager or COMM/Addins and

Naturally I had all my critical files backed up and decided it was time to start anew. So I reinstalled Windows XP.I put the .pst files in the proper directory and clicked on Outlook 2003. I finally got my messages imported, but my address book is gone. It did, however, make its way to the "Contacts" list. All the data are there, but nothing in my address book.Searches in Google showed me that to the rest of the world, when one says
