And it throws that error. I downloaded this as an example, and it should work, however Flash Builder 4.6 doesn't like it. The structure of the as file is like this: imports variables class B class C package public class A /package Btw, I'm using Flash Builder not Flash CC. If I take away that right brace, I then receive both errors 1083 and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18004432/syntax-error-1083-actionscript-3 1084 (end of program is unexpected and expecting rightbrace before end of program. I keep getting this code and it always says the issue is on line 5 of my 1083 error as3 code even when I change the code and that line is blank. any ideas?package { public class us1pcas3testfile { var HomeBtn; HomeBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, GoHome); function GoHome(event: MouseEvent): void { MovieClip(this.root).gotoAndStop(1, "Main"); } function HomeBtn(); } }} I have the same question Show 0 Likes(0) 354Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Re: Flash Pro 1083:syntax error:package is unexpected Colin Holgate May 27, 2015 10:55 AM (in response to jacquelynm24125526) You declare a variable without saying what it is. You're calling MovieClip without having the import line. There's also a function with the same name as the button. There's also no constructor function. This may be more correct:package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.display.SimpleButton; import flash.events.Event; import flash.events.MouseEvent; public class us1pcas3testfile { public var HomeBtn:SimpleButton; public function us1pcas3testfile() { addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE,added); } private function

Next time I try to open it I get an error saying "Unexpected File Format", and the application closes itself out. I can open Flash by itself and work on anything else, but when I try to open my class project it repeats the same thing "Unexpected File Format" and closes. The file was originally started IN Flash CS5.5, and has not moved to any other program since then.
