As3 Error 119
So I've searched through this site and a few others pertaining the error code 1119, and none of them really helped me figure out what was wrong. Essentially, the same error comes up 2 times for 4 different pieces of code that are also very similar to each other. They are simply the codes needed to move an object in flash a certain number of units. Here's all of the code: package { import flash.display.MovieClip;
Access Of Possibly Undefined Property Text Through A Reference With Static Type Number.
import flash.events.Event; import flash.events.KeyboardEvent; public class Work extends MovieClip { var touching:Boolean = false; public function Work() { startGame(); } function startGame():void { stage.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, gameLoop); stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyDownHandler); } function gameLoop(event:Event):void { checkCollisions(); } function keyDownHandler(keyEvent:KeyboardEvent):void { if (keyEvent.keyCode == 40) { flyer.y += 10; } else if (keyEvent.keyCode == 39) { flyer.x += 10; } else if (keyEvent.keyCode == 37) { flyer.x -= 10; } else if (keyEvent.keyCode == 38) { flyer.y -= 10; } } function checkCollisions() { if (flyer.hitTestObject(square)) { touching = true; } else { touching = false; } } } } (I don't know why the first parts are excluded from the coding box, but oh well. I couldn't manually indent because Tab button changes selection on my web page) Now, here is the exact piece of code where it's giving me the errors: function keyDownHandler(keyEvent:KeyboardEvent):void { if (keyEvent.keyCode == 40) { flyer.y += 10; } else if (keyEvent.keyCode == 39) { flyer.x += 10; } else if (keyEvent.keyCode == 37) { flyer.x -= 10; } else if (keyEvent.keyCode == 38) { flyer.y -= 10; } (again, text buggin' out on me) Now, it's not just givving the 1119 error on one of these, but ALL of them, TWICE! Here, let me show you: Another thing to add onto this plea for help, is the last error you see

I've got two simple objects, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21559955/flash-as3-error-1119-access-of-possibly-undefined-property-x-through-a-referenc Planet and Ship that I want to be gravitationally attracted to each other. When I try to change the x and y coordinates of ship, it gives me error 1119: Access of possibly undefined property x through a reference with static type Class. The only fixes I have found so far are making sure it's an instance of an object and exporting it for actionscript, both of which have not worked. Here's the code. The only errors are on the lines that try to access Ship.x and Ship.y: var yVelocity:Number = 0; var xVelocity:Number = 0; var gravityConstant:Number = 1; var earthMass:Number = 5000; var canPlay:Boolean = true; function findDistance():Number { var distance:Number = Math.pow(Math.pow(Ship.x - 250,2) + Math.pow(Ship.y - 175,2),.5); return distance; } function findAcceleration():Number { var distance:Number = findDistance(); return gravityConstant * earthMass / Math.pow(distance, 2); } function findAngle():Number { var angle:Number = Math.atan((Ship.y - 175) / (Ship.x - 250)); return (180 / Math.PI) * angle; //converts from radians to degrees } functi

I'm working in an external .as file which is working with my main .fla. Code is below. I'm getting 7 compiler errors, one each time "Stage" is referenced. I had this problem yesterday(http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=348842) and the answer for that was to import and change "root" to "Stage"(as you can see in that link. That doesn't work for this file that I'm working 1119 error as3 with today. Same sort of setup in the .fla, just different content. Here is one of the errors -"1119: Access of possibly undefined property get_error through a reference with static type Class." The others are just the same thing but replace "get_error" with the other functions next to "stage" in the .as. I tried changing "Stage" to "MovieClip(parent)", which I found online, but that threw different errors. I seem to be working in circles and would love to learn the real cause of this. It's hard to wrap my head around at the moment. Here is the external .as you can download the files here http://www.vigormusic.com/rootHelp.zip Code: package{ import flash.system.fscommand; import flash.display.Stage; public class LMS{ public var m_bInit:Boolean; public var m_bValues:Boolean; public var m_strStudentName:String; public var m_strStudentId:String; public var m_strCredit:String; public var m_strComments:String; public var m_nScore:Number; public var m_nSession:Number; public var m_nLastError:Number; public function LMS(){ m_bInit = false; m_bValues = false; m_strStudentName = "
