I just had Comcast cable installed and got a self-install kit for HSI. I heard you didn't have to install the software to be able to use it, but although the LAN icon in my system tray blinks, my browser can't open websites sooo...I pop in the CD that came with it and it tells me my network card is properly configured for Comcast services and it passes the connnectivity check and to click next...so I do and it gives me this error message: Error type: CD-4.0 1_RC4-6-005 Detail: Post failed URL: https://ppactserv.comcastsupport.com/servlet/magcsasservlet XML: ATTSA 07/23/2007 17.39.56 2.0 Win 32 not-set Of course it just tells me to call Comcast for tech support, but I hate calling those numbers...they take forever, put you on hold, tell you to do all kinds of things that don't work...and you can barely hear them because they're located in god knows where, so I thought I'd see if any of this looks familiar to any of you fine people before I put myself through that. Thanks! Oh, and I use Windows XP. soapbox, Jul 23, 2007 #1 JohnWill Retired Moderator Joined: Oct 19, 2002 Messages: 106,414 Please supply the following info, exact models of the equipment please.
