The Issue: One of my CableCARDs https://forums.tivo.com/pe/action/forums/displaypost?postID=10292795 was not properly activated. When the cable company (RCN) technician installed the CableCARDs, one was activated properly, the other was apparently not. The Fix (Summary): I had to isolate which CableCARD was not activated, and had the cable company technical service person send out the signals to activate. The Fix (Details): • Figure Out Which CableCARD Is Not Activated: On the “Conditional Access” screen (see below): - If “EnabledByCP” is “no”, and if “Auth” is either “unknown” or “MISSING_PROGRAM_REKEY”, then your CableCARD is NOT fully activated - If “EnabledByCP” is “yes”, and if “Auth” is “SUBSCRIBED”, then your CableCARD is fully activated - If it says anything else, I don’t know the answer, so call TiVo tech support… • Have Cable Company to Send Activation Signals: Call you cable company’s technical services line. For the CableCARD that is not fully activated, have the cable company technical service representative send activation signals (see below) to the CableCARD. Two things to note: - You have to know the serial number of the CableCARDs in each slot (see below) - The TiVo 3 box and CableCARDs are new technologies, especially to the technical services departments of cable companies. So, it is highly possible (with no intended disrespect) that the technical services representative will have little concept of what the issue is. • Wait a Couple of Minutes, then Check if CableCARD is Activated: It wi

He never called in the numbers off my card and my TV says that they must authorize my card before the tools menu would come up. Is this correct? Report this issue to your TV manufacturer, they can best guide you as to what the problem is, and who needs to do what to correct it. It also wouldn't hurt to have a cable technician check your FDC (forward data carrier) and make sure it is between +15 to -15 dBmV. I'm not sure I'm allowed to disclose what the actual error message is telling you, but your TV manufacturer has all the same data sheets that indicate what the 161-"X" error messages mean. Hope that helps, and sorry I can't tell you more. 10-10-2005, 03:25 PM #4 cgking114 Give me HD or Give me Def Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Mount Pleasant,SC Age: 48 Posts: 61 Well I have called the TV company and they don't know what it means. i looked it up and it says it is a buffer problem.
