This is what I have running at the moment; Case: Coolermaster HAF X Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair Formula V RAM: A couple of Dominators Video Card: XFX Radeon 6870 CPU Cooler: Coolermaster V6GT CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1100t A couple of hard drives, and an optical drive The problem is that when I turned it on for the first time I heard one short beep, which I read is normal, and then it is followed by one long beep with four-or-so short ones, and the screen says that there's a CPU fan error. I turned the system off completely and turned it on again, this time watching the V6GT, I noticed that it doesn't start spinning as soon as I pressed the power
Posts So recently, I got the parts for my new homebuilt PC installed and ready to use, https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1033550 everything was hooked up according to the instructions (AMD) but when I go to turn the PC.. the fan spins a bit.. then stops. The BIOS reads a https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-Freezer-Pro-Rev-Multicompatible/product-reviews/B002G392ZI CPU FAN ERROR. I've googled around a bit but not found anything particularly conclusive. I took it out and put the stock cooler in for now because I cpu fan didn't want to take any further risk. So, anyone got any suggestions? I can't figure out whats up.. I thought maybe it wasn't getting the correct amount of power, I was going to get a CPU_FAN connector to molex and hook it directly to my PSU.. (500W) but that seems like a bad way of doing it. cpu fan error Reply Dumb x 1 (list) 3rd December 2010 Post #2 bohb Asshole Extraordinaire May 2005 3,709 Posts If you tried plugging the CPU fan into the CPU_FAN 3 prong (newer boards can have a 4 or 5 prong connector for PWM, but 3 prong connectors still work) and the fan isn't spinning, it could either indicate a problem with the motherboard, or a problem with the fan itself. Go ahead and try the molex to fan connector adapter and see if the fan works. If it does work, then you have a problem with the motherboard. I've matched it up with a AMD Phenom II 955 on a GA-M720-US3 motherboard. It's a bit tricky to install because you have to screw the heatsink into two loose clips. You have to put a bit of pressure on the metal bit to get the screw to match up and meet the clips. Once screwed tight its stable and does a great job at cooling. Initial temperature was 45C, the d
