The Asus website (http://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1015061/) says to set the "fan speed lower limit" to Ignore but this doesn't work for me. What works is setting the "CPU Fan Speed" to Ignore instead (http://imgur.com/hTAEHw1)Is this a suitable compromise? I want to take advantage http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2910294/asus-motherboard-cpu-fan-error.html of the PWM hub. Another solution is actually plugging the cpu cooler into the CPU Fan header whilst the PWM hub into the CPU Opt header. How do I find out whether this Opt header has true PWM signal modulation and doesn't modulate the RPM by voltage?Help much appreciated. 6 answers Last reply Dec 26, 2015 Best Answer Dec 26, 2015 More about asus motherboard cpu fan error smorizioDec 25, 2015, 12:22 AM use one of the 4 pin system fan headers on the mb. for the power to the case fan hub. you need to plug in the cpu fan into the cpu port or you get that message every time. smorizioDec 25, 2015, 12:24 AM 1 x CPU Fan connector(s) (1 x 4 -pin)1 x CPU OPT Fan connector(s) (1 x 4 -pin)4 x Chassis Fan connector(s) (4 x 4 -pin)three pin headers are non pmw ports if there all 4 pins any of them should work. Hey anyone who can help, I recently put together my first computer mostly on my own (A tech-savvy friend came over to make sure everything was plugged in right). Every time I boot up the computer, cpu fan I see the error message "CPU Fan Error", but when I look at the fan, it's most definitely spinning away. Certain programs (mostly large games like Diablo 3 and Dragon Age) will crash the program shortly after starting up, if not crashing the entire computer, and many smaller programs will freeze or close on their own, which I have been told may be a cpu fan error sign of overheating. I've tried restarting the computer a number of times, uninstalling the games, plugging the fan into different ports on the motherboard (in case I had it wrong), and even bought a new fan, and I still keep getting this message. I've had this new computer for around a week now and it has been nothing but trouble. All I want is for it to work. Can someone please help me? The way to find it is to click configure once installed. Temps will then be given. Post back what the temp is usually around (ex: if it goes from like 18 to 20 to 19 to 20, just say like 20).
