Dell Dimension 3000 This question has suggested answer(s) Posted by http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-7/cpu-fan-error-press-f1/8884.html Ronweasley601 on 5 Jul 2013 14:01 Hello, The CPU fan quit on my Dell Dimension 3000 and a few minutes later the computer shut itself down. I bought a new fan which is an exact duplicate of the original factory-installed fan. It has the exact same label, 3-pin connector and wire colors as the factory fan. I installed it and the computer works perfectly, except that I get cpu fan the "Alert! Previous fan failure. Press F1 to continue..." It's a minor annoyance, but I'd like to get rid of this alert. I searched online for solutions and what I found was to install a Dell factory fan with a 3-pin connector. This is exactly what I did. I can only assume that if the new fan looks just like the old one, has the exact same label, wire colors and connector that it must be the same. I would rather not disable the warning system cpu fan error in case the new fan fails at a later date. Does anyone know if there is a fix? Thanks! You may try clearing the system Event Log in BIOS and see if it helps : Power on computer Press F2 when you see Dell logo Using Down arrow key on keyboard Highlight System Event Log and press Enter Highlight Clear System Event Log and press Enter Press Esc to exit Please reply if you have any further questions. Posted by Ronweasley601 on 8 Jul 2013 10:32 Hello Sundap B: Thanks for your suggestion. I cleared the System Event Log per your instructions and restarted the computer about four times with no fan failure message. The next morning I started it up and the fan failure warning appeared. I again cleared the Log, restarted several times during the day and no fan warning. The following day I got the fan failure warning twice in a row,
