Rock Pro cooler - Issue with CPU cooler Marlfox04.09.2013, 09:57I just did my first build last night, and have an
Asus Cpu Fan Error Water Cooling
issue with the CPU cooler. My MB is an Asus Maximus cpu fan error asus z97 VI Impact, with 4770k and Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 2 as the cooler. When booting up, the
Sabertooth 990fx Cpu Fan Error
computer kicked up a warning message of 'PCU Fan error'. When going into the BIOS, the PCU fan was running at 550-580rpm. I set the minimum to 600, http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1824614/asus-sabertooth-z87-cpu-fan-error.html and it stayed at this range. I then set it to turbo mode, and it dropped to 425 rpm. I set it back to default and noticed the front fan was spinning whilst the second fan was stationary. The CPU was a constant 30-33 degrees. Is the second fan only going to kick in when the chip heats http://www.be-quiet.net/forum/archive/index.php/t-889.html up, or do I have a bad cooling unit? I have three other fans wired up, the intake one was running about 1100rpm (2300 fan) and the two outtakes were running about 800rpm each. Thanks for any help. be quiet! Support05.09.2013, 14:22Dear Marlfox, welcome to our community. Due to the high efficient be quiet! DarkRock Cooler the fan doesn't need to spin with high speed. Since your BIOS is monitors the fan speed of your CPU fan it issued a warning if the CPU fan speed is under the BIOS programmed CPU fan speed warning level. Workaround: Please set the warning /alarm speed to the lowest level, or switch off this warning function. Please make sure that you connect the fan of the cooler to the CPU_FAN socket of your MoBo. Properly handled both fans should spin. Have you used the Y-adapter to connect the fans of your CPU cooler to the MoBo? FAN. You can refer to the steps below to resolve the issue. https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1006064 1. Please make sure the CPU FAN is installed on the right position of the motherboard and twist the screws tightly 2. Ensure that the CPU FAN cable is securely installed to the CPU_FAN connector instead of the CHA_FAN. 3. If you install the other brand of CPU FAN with lower cpu fan revolutions speed, the system may not able to detect it correctly. You can try to set "CPU Fan Speed Low Limit" to 200 RPM in BIOS configuration. * "CPU Fan Speed Low Limit" appears only when you set the CPU Q-Fan Control to [DC Mode], [PWM Mode], and [Auto]. For those early cpu fan error versions, you need to set the CPU Q-Fan Control to [Enabled], [Advance Mode] or [Auto]. 4. You can set Monitor->CPU FAN Speed to [Ignore] if you don't want to open the computer case. *You can set CPU FAN Speed to [Ignore] if your computer coming with water cooling system without fan. 5. Update the BIOS to the latest version. http://www.asus.com/support/faq/1008279/ If the issue still occurs, please consult with ASUS Service Center.
