Are you sure it is a dell fan and why did you not use the original fan? Posted by inginh on 29 Sep 2009 5:18 I did use the original fan after changing the motherboard, and was getting the CPU Fan Failure alert. So I purchased another fan from DELL. I received the same fan make, model as the original fan, but continue to get the CPU Fan Failure Alert. Are you suggesting I change the motherboard again? I also received the motherboard from DELL. Posted by Trafficflow on 29 Sep 2009 20:16 That should of took care of the problem. I am not suggesing a new motherboard. Is it possible it is the fan in the power supply? Anybody in the forum know? Make sure to check for loose connections also. One other thing did you hook the fan up backwaeds? That is all I can think of. a Dell. The fan is the style that sets on the heatsink and plugs in to the motherboard. It is not a Dell fan. When I boot up I get a fan out of range failure. It must be looking for a diode http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19296361 or something. The fan works fine but it is not the style that Dell uses.Is there some way around this? Or do I need to purchase a Dell original fan?Any help would be great. Also how can I change my name to something BETTER THAN OWLMAN!!! As for your name, I think your pretty much stuck with it. Unofficial TechIMO record holder for the number of times being added and removed from beemer's ignore list. Previous fan failure. Strike F1 to continue or F2 to run setup utility. or something very close to this. This error has happened to me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQK91JNa7ng previously about one year ago and then one day or night it suddenly fixed itself and began working again but now the problem has come to me again. I tried removing the fan and blowing it out for dust, hair and other cpu fan things that could plug it up. Another thing i checked was the Event Log and it says there was an error with the CPU Fan and the event type was labled "Out of Range" (What's up with that? Is that my problem?) Rather than waiting for that certain time to happen again where it fixes itself I would like to discover how I can fix it myself. In my honest opinion I think the fan is able to run but I am not positive. Any dell cpu fan possibilities for a solution would be greatly appreciated... keep in mind I am not the most advanced in computer vocabulary although I believe I know the basics. Thanks! I want to avoid this problem but I don't know how. Even still now though... Any input on why this would happen??? Thanks again Almeza, Jun 4, 2007 #2 biagrin Joined: Jan 1, 2006 Messages: 136 it might be possible that it is just some strange error. if the cpu fan wasnt working then the cpu would fry. it could also be a loose cpu fan wire. biagrin, Jun 4, 2007 #3 bigbear Joined: Apr 27, 2004 Messages: 4,717 Check and see if the the fan is noisy, could be a sign the bearings are failing. Its not a big deal to change the heatsink and fan, and they are quite cheap Also check the chipset fan (if you have one) its is quite common for these to fail bigbear, Jun 4, 2007 #4 Almeza Thread Starter Joined: Jun 4, 2007 Messages: 3 Yeah I talked to another friend and he said it would fry but I saw that it was not working but nothing fried (Lucky me!). And to bigbear, The fan is not too noisy... But yeah replacing the parts are not too bad, you are co
