a new mother board and CPU from family for chirstmas. I put my old setup in the new case and have everything plugged cpu fan has failed hp in. Now anytime i start up the system it goes through post, then just after running the memory test, it switchs to a new screen and pops up a message saying "CPU fan has Failed. Powering Down System. Have PC http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00013522 system serviced to prevent damage to CPU". The system is from an HP Pavilion a1477c. Several months ago i upgraded the ram from 1gb to 3gb. I also bought a newer PSU going from 300w to 500w. Also it has a Sapphire 4830 ATI graphics card. Its an MSI MS-7184 Motherboard. This is the system here. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00... Now the case i bought is an Azza Spartan 101. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... Never Received this message until now. Hoping this can be fixed. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/271143-28-error-message-failed Also, tried out a tip of hitting F2 and then F11 and getting into the bios to bypass the cpu fan sensor and this has worked. But i would still like to know what could be causing the issues. I have a CPU temp monitoring program running and the cores are running at 42-48 degrees celcius. So i know the fan it's self is still running. More about : error message cpu fan failed evongugg a b à CPUs 3 December 2009 21:16:04 If you disabled the CPU fan check in the bios, all is fine. The CPU fan is slow at startup. That's why you get the message. You will have to monitor the CPU fan in another way or buy a new heatsink. I'm hoping someone can help me as I am totally at a loss as what to try next. Ok, fan has failed so my mother bought a HP Slimline S5305Z desktop PC. Had it for several months with no problems. Then ocasionally when she would restart it she would get a"ERROR: CPU Fan Has Failed! PC will automatically power down in a few seconds. Service the PC immediately to prevent damage to the PC." She would restart it and no error. I opened it up to make sure the cpu fan connector was seated properly and it was. Finally she purchased a new desktop and gave me her old one. "Let the fun begin!"....So I brought it home, got everything hooked back up and commenced to using it on a daily basis. Well whenever I would need to restart it due to updates or whatever I would get the same cpu fan error but It went from occasionally to everytime it was restarted. Now whenever I need to restart it I have to blow on the cpu fan to keep it going in order to prevent it from showing the cpu fan error and shutting down. Not really the type of thing I want to have to do each time I restart my PC. To date I have replaced the cpu fan, power supply and motherboard thinking that it might be related to one of those three but with no luck. Still the same issue. As far as I know the bios has never been updated. I have never updated it and I know my mother who can barely figure out

Although there are numerous reasons for this message being generated, most are false and have nothing to do with a failed CPU fan. Many are lead to believe or assume that the CPU fan has failed because of this message, a USB hub is at fault, and numerous other suspicions.99% of the time when one opens the computer case they immediately note that the CPU Fan is running, there's no dust or any other issue that can be detected, however this warning message continues to be generated. This issue is most apparent on a cold start, not a restart. The cause for this false message is most often associated with a peripheral USB device, such as a USB hub that places just a sufficient extra load on the power supply and the fan fails to come up to speed quickly enough due to the extra load from the USB devices plugged into the computer, thus preventing the CPU fan from developing sufficient RPM (below 500 RPM). Keep in mind that most hardware, including fans, is made in China and a lot of this hardware is not of the best quality (Cheap). When the CPU fan fails to develop sufficient RPM quickly enough, the BIOS triggers t
