In order to make this message disappear from a PC on startup you have to get into the bios settings of your computer. To get into the bios settings you have to press Del, F1 or F2 (varies according the different motherboard) while starting your computer as shown in this video. After getting into the bios search for fan control settings, I have to enter into the Power tab of the bios settings on this motherboard to get into the CPU Fan speed. On this motherboard CPU fan speed is N/A by default & I have to change it to Ignored to make the message of CPU fan error disappear on startup. In some motherboard the rpm

Each time I boot the computer, the following error message is displayed: CPU fan error. Press F for settings The CPU fan speed varies around 500 RPM and the temperature starts at 70°F (20°C) and goes up to 80°F (27°C). I know how to get into the bios. When I press DEL I get the CPU fan error message. Then I press F1 and I get into the BIOS where I set the boot priority. Then I press EXIT, SAVE CHANGES ans cpu fan error RESET. But it does not boot. I keep getting back to "PRESS DEL..., etc. What modification(s) should I make to disable or bypass this alert and is it safe to do so? cpu bios computer-building fan share|improve this question edited Feb 16 '13 at 13:23 asked Feb 16 '13 at 3:03 user196797 18114 1 Electrical tape works for the "check engine" light on my car. –Daniel R Hicks Feb 16 '13 at 14:03 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 6 down vote I was getting same error message on my Maximus V Gene with Cooler Master 212 Plus CPU Cooler. This error message is diplayed when CPU fan RPM is below specified limit. For my motherboard, specified low limit was 600 RMP and CM 212 Plus Cooler fan was running at 500-550RPM. If CPU temperature is ok, then you need not to worry. If you want to turn of this error message, then goto: BIOS -> Monitor -> Fan Speed Monitor Here, you can see all fans connected to your system are being monitored. You now need to select CPU fan. Two options will popup - Monitor and Ignore. Select Ignore. Error message will not be shown thereafter. share|improve this answer answered Feb 20 '13 at 5:27 Yogesh Ralebhat 22818 does not work for me –IARI Apr 23 at 8:54 @IARI Can you specify the motherboard name and model that you are using? –Yogesh Ralebhat May 5 at 9:32 Maximus VIII Ranger - are there multipl
FAN. You can refer to the steps below to resolve the issue. 1. Please make sure the CPU FAN is installed on the right position of the motherboard and twist the screws tightly 2. Ensure that the CPU FAN cable is securely installed to the CPU_FAN connector instead of the CHA_FAN. 3. If you install the other brand of CPU FAN with lower revolutions speed, the system may not able to detect it correctly. You can try to set "CPU Fan Speed Low Limit" to 200 RPM in BIOS configuration. * "CPU Fan Speed Low Limit" appears only when you set the CPU Q-Fan Control to [DC Mode], [PWM Mode], and [Auto]. For those early versions, you need to set the CPU Q-Fan Control to [Enabled], [Advance Mode] or [Auto]. 4. You can set Monitor->CPU FAN Speed to [Ignore] if you don't want to open the computer case. *You can set CPU FAN Speed to [Ignore] if your computer coming with water cooling system without fan. 5. Update the BIOS to the latest version. http://www.asus.com/support/faq/1008279/ If the issue still occurs, please consult with ASUS Service Center.
