it seems to think it's running too low (it's at 568 RPM with a CPU temperature of 32C showing BIOS). It seems the lowest RPM without warning is 600RPM. I'm a total noob so I'm really just clueless about if https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1006064 this is an actual issue or not. Is 32C for a CPU that's just showing BIOS normal? Should my CPU fan be working harder right now and keeping the CPU cooler? If this isn't an issue, I'm guessing it's all right to lower the threshold for cpu fan warning to something closer to 400-500RPM, right? If this isn't normal and it's an actual problem, what can I do about it? I mean, the fan is recognized by the system and http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1728332/cpu-fan-error-boot.html it seems to run, just a bit slower than the motherboard expects it to. Then again, I can't run any tests on it (playing games or stuff like that) at the moment since I'm waiting for my OS to be delivered. My build is the following: ASUS Z87-PRO Intel i7-4770k Kingston DDR3 HyperX Predator 8GB Noctua NH-U14S CPU Cooler EVGA GeForce GTX770 Corsair AX860 PSU Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help me. As soon as you boot up, grab a temp monitoring program (CoreTemp, RealTemp, etc..) and watch it there. If things stay pretty cool (within 5c or so of your BIOS reading), you should be good to go. One sets the rpm at which a fan warning is issued. The default is likely 600 rpm. Just lower that number to 300 rpm, and you should be good. The noctua coolers run very quiet because they do not need high rpm fans.

PhilJackson Junior Member Joined: Jan 10, 2009 Messages: 7 Likes Received: 0 http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/troubleshooting/12804-cpu-fan-error.html Well, my newly built system was running fine for the past week but as I turned it on today, I got a message saying "CPU Fan Error! Press F1 to Resume." So I restarted the computer to see if that would fix it and it did. The error was gone. I ran Speedfan and something weird happened. Aux0 and Aux1 have no speed. I opened up the computer and cpu fan all three Chassis fans and the CPU fan were running fine. Here's a picture of SF: http://i41.tinypic.com/166x8jn.jpg Any clue why the error first occurred and why there is no RPM for the fans? By the way, there are three case fans and one stock Intel CPU fan. I know that at least 1 (can't remember if it was both) of the Aux fans had a speed reading before this. Thank you. #1 PhilJackson, Jan 27, 2009 chizow Diamond Member Joined: Jun 26, 2001 Messages: 9,537 cpu fan error Likes Received: 0 You get the CPU Fan Error if you don't have a fan plugged into the 4-pin PWM fan plug (a 3 pin fan works fine, you just dont' get PWM control) located to the right of the CPU if looking at it from the top. There's a lot of fan plugs on this board, which is great imo, just check your manual to make sure you're using the one specified for the CPU fan. #2 chizow, Jan 27, 2009 PhilJackson Junior Member Joined: Jan 10, 2009 Messages: 7 Likes Received: 0 I looked right now and made sure that the one it was being connected to was the CPU Fan plug. I restarted the computer a few times and the error did not come up but after a few tries, it did come up again. Any tips? #3 PhilJackson, Jan 27, 2009 RallyMaster Diamond Member Joined: Dec 28, 2004 Messages: 5,583 Likes Received: 0 What Q-Fan settings do you have it at in the BIOS? Anything lower than turbo for me would yield a CPU Fan Error. #4 RallyMaster, Feb 1, 2009 (You must log in or sign up to post here.) Show Ignored Content Loading... I just switched over to a P5Q pro last night and it always freezes on boot up with a CPU fan error. I water cool so there is no fan. How the hell do I get rid of that it's driving me nuts! I can't find anywhere in the BIOS to disable it. I did find a spot where I selected "Ignore" for the CPU fan but that didn't fix it. __________________ i7 4790K @ 4.8GHz w/EK Supremacy Evo MSI z97 Gaming 5 2x 8GB Gskill Sniper 2133 @ 2400MHz EVGA GTX 280 (SC?)
