When attempting to uninstall specific updates of "Adobe Acrobat 7.0.1(and 2) and Reader 7.0.1(and 2) Update" I receive the pop up message "Error 1324. I am using Windows XP error 1324 my Home Edition with Service Pack 2 installed. 0 Advertisements #2 starjax Posted 21 July 2007 - 04:49 PM starjax Global Moderator Global Moderator 6,582 posts This is my prefered fix. Here is a lengthy document on how to fix the issue by running Regedit (method 1)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894510Alternatively here is another articlehttp://windowsxp.mvps.org/err1324.htmPlease read this and follow the link to "Reset the Shell Folders paths to defaults". From there there is a link on how to backup the registry. Very advisable that you do this before editing the registry. There is a lot of info on that last page. What you need is the regfix. Right click on the following link and "save as". http://windowsxp.mvp...hellfolders.regonce it's downloaded just double click on the file. It will prompt you about modifying your registry. This is what we want to do. This alternative fix will reset your shell folders back to default. It may actually be easier and simpler to follow Method 1 in the microsoft article to fix the "specific issue" without resorting to reseting all of your settings. Please let me know if you have any questions. 0 #3 Stymied Posted 22 July 2007 - 09:38 PM Stymied New Member Topic Starter Member 8 posts Thank you Starjax for your no-nonsense solution. Thank you also for not mentioning that a few clicks on my own should have been enough for me to locate that fix on my own. Problem resolved. O' 0 Back to A
computer which had changed domain servers and had an old profile I experienced this error: "Error 1324.The path My Documents or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again." This told me the my documents folder was being redirected to an invalid location. I tried right clicking on my documents in the start menu but I was unable to change the path probably because of an old group policy. I figured I would need to change it in the registry. The registry key for My Documents location is usually HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders But if it has been changed by group policy like in my case it is located here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders The key is called personal in both locations. The way I fixed the adobe reader install problem was to change the my documents location back to a local location such as the default location of: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents. I also changed the location of my pictures, my music and my videos for good measure. I then downloaded the full installer from Adobe's website saved it in the local my documents location and the install finished successfully. { 4 comments… read them below or add one } md November 7, 2012 at 5:19 am Great Thank you for the info!
