volume is invalid. Please enter it again. mwolfect May 31, 2011 6:54 AM Hello Adobe!I get that error when trying to install Adobe Reader X, or upgrade/update on Windows 7 Pro workstations. This also happens when I try to update Adobe Standard products that are on our workstations. This is an Active Directory based network, and users have their Documents error 1324 the path my pictures contains an invalid character folder redirected to a network server. Users have full rights over that folder, so using a network location should not be an issue. This is absolutely ridiculous that this should be a problem.I've seen several solutions, such as repointing the Documents folder to their C drive again and then back, but that is a ludicrous solution. I'm lucky that only a few of our workstations are Win 7 currently and that I have not been made aware of this issue on Windows XP Pro. I couldn't imagine having to touch 250 workstation to fix this problem.Re-redirecting the Documents folder it is NOT a solution it is a bandaid for something broken.Does anyone know of a fix or solution to this problem? Please enter it again. mytaxsite.co.uk May 31, 2011 7:59 PM (in response to mwolfect) See if this solution works for you: computer which had changed domain servers and had an old profile I experienced this error: "Error 1324.The path My Documents or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again." This told me the my error 1324 the path my pictures or the volume is invalid documents folder was being redirected to an invalid location. I tried right clicking on my documents in the error 1324 the folder path contains an invalid character start menu but I was unable to change the path probably because of an old group policy. I figured I would need to change it in the registry. The https://forums.adobe.com/thread/858745 registry key for My Documents location is usually HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders But if it has been changed by group policy like in my case it is located here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders The key is called personal in both locations. The way I fixed the adobe reader install problem was to change the my documents location back to a local location such http://getdeclue.com/2012/08/09/adobe-reader-install-failed-error-1324-the-path-my-documents-or-the-volume-is-invalid-please-enter-it-again/ as the default location of: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents. I also changed the location of my pictures, my music and my videos for good measure. I then downloaded the full installer from Adobe's website saved it in the local my documents location and the install finished successfully. { 4 comments… read them below or add one } md November 7, 2012 at 5:19 am Great Thank you for the info! So i ran the fix it tool from Microsoft and it fixed my second problem. As for the first i found out that i had to change my drive letter back to F because my external hard drive had been turned off and my zip drive switched to F instead of E and it screwed everything up. melowman, Nov 2, 2010 #3 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies. I can't uninstall, repair or modify my installation of NetAdvantage. I was trying to modify my existing 11.2 version because a team-mate realized we had different DLL versions based on the same install. I can do anything. I even tried installing the latest version of the tools but I get the same message. If I try to uninstall via the Windows control panel I get the same message. I am in a corporate environment and my "My Documents" folder is mapped to a network drive. Any advice? I did not have read permissions to the folder just below "My Documents". I think the networking team here had made some sort of a change recently. Once these permissions were changed it started working correctly. Thanks for your help! Also can you attach the log file of the installer itself? This will allow us to see what the actual reason for such behavior may be. Thank you. In their case, it was the "My Pictures" folder that was mapped to a network drive and giving the same "Error 1324" that your log shows. They list a couple of workarounds for this kind of issue. 1) Map a drive to your "My Documents" folder and change the registry key to use that mapped drive. The key is at HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders. Your "My Documents" folder should be listed in the "Personal" registry value. After that is done, the installer should be able to resolve the path. If you go this route, be sure to back up your registry so you can roll backas needed. Adobe Reader Error 1324 Path My Documents
