is invalid. Please enter it again. mwolfect May 31, 2011 6:54 AM Hello Adobe!I get that error when trying to install Adobe Reader X, or upgrade/update on Windows 7 Pro workstations. This also happens when I try to update Adobe Standard products that are on our workstations. This is an Active Directory based network, and users have their Documents folder redirected error 1324 the path my documents contains an invalid character windows 7 to a network server. Users have full rights over that folder, so using a network location should not be an issue. This is absolutely ridiculous that this should be a problem.I've seen several solutions, such as repointing the Documents folder to their C drive again and then back, but that is a ludicrous solution. I'm lucky that only a few of our workstations are Win 7 currently and that I have not been made aware of this issue on Windows XP Pro. I couldn't imagine having to touch 250 workstation to fix this problem.Re-redirecting the Documents folder it is NOT a solution it is a bandaid for something broken.Does anyone know of a fix or solution to this problem? and Deployment Question 0 Sign in to vote 'Error 1324. The folder path 'My error 1324 the path my pictures contains an invalid character Pictures' contains an invalid character' message is a huge problem with Windows 7. Anytime a user has folder redirection for document, error 1324 adobe pictures, music, ect... msi's will give the following message when configuring or installing. Not all MSI's have a problem but some do and it makes deploying software a nightmare. Yes, I know there is https://forums.adobe.com/thread/858745 the option of resetting your user shell folder paths back to default, but we need redirection and the msi packages do not like the HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders. I just ran into this same issue. Windows 7 Pro, Win2003 SBS server domain, My Documents being redirected through a Group Policy Setting. My Documents redirects to \\SERVER\USERS\USERNAME. Error message that My Documents contains an invalid character. Like TS7, if the user logged in was a Domain Admin, this error did not occur. The difference between a Domain Admin and a Domain User? In my case, The Domain Admin has rights to the USERS folder I listed in the My Documents redirection path. A Domain User does not. A Domain User has full rights ONLY to their User Folder (The USERNAME) part. By giving the Domain Users READ access to the USERS folder (only that folder) the error went away. Apparently even though the user had full rights to their user folder, the fact that they didn't have any rights to the USERS folder in the path was causing the issue. (at least in my case). Hope this helps. I was trying to modify my existing 11.2 version http://www.infragistics.com/community/forums/t/82813.aspx because a team-mate realized we had different DLL versions based on the same install. I can do anything. I even tried installing the latest version of the tools but I get the same message. If I try to uninstall https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-error-1324-the-folder-path-my-documents-contains-an-invalid-character.959393/ via the Windows control panel I get the same message. I am in a corporate environment and my "My Documents" folder is mapped to a network drive. Any advice? I did not have read permissions to the folder just below "My Documents". I think the networking team here had made some sort of a change recently. Once these permissions were changed it started working correctly. Thanks for your help! Also can you attach the log file of the installer itself? This will allow us to see what the actual reason for such behavior may be. Thank you. In their case, it was the "My Pictures" folder that was mapped to a network drive and giving the same "Error 1324" that your log shows. They list a couple of workarounds for this kind of issue. 1) Map a drive to your "My Documents" folder and change the registry key to use that mapped drive. The key is at HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders. Your "My Documents" folder should be listed in the "Personal" registry value. After that is done, the installer should be able to resolve the path. If you go this r

So i ran the fix it tool from Microsoft and it fixed my second problem. As for the first i found out that i had to change my drive letter back to F because my external hard drive had been turned off and my zip drive switched to F instead of E and it screwed everything up. melowman, Nov 2, 2010 #3 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies.
