of resetting your user shell folder paths back to default, but we need redirection and the msi packages do not like the HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders. Thursday, June 17, 2010 3:05 PM Reply | Quote Answers 11 Sign in to vote Hi Everyone, I'm a little late to the party but I might have some useful info. I just ran error 1324 the path program files contains an invalid character into this same issue. Windows 7 Pro, Win2003 SBS server domain, My Documents being redirected through a Group Policy Setting. My Documents redirects to \\SERVER\USERS\USERNAME. Error message that My Documents contains an invalid character. Like TS7, if the user logged in was a Domain Admin, this error did not occur. The difference between a Domain Admin and a Domain User? In my case, The Domain Admin has rights to the USERS folder I listed in the My Documents redirection path. A Domain User does not. A Domain User has full rights ONLY to their User Folder (The USERNAME) part. By giving the Domain Users READ access to the USERS folder (only that folder) the error went away. Apparently even though the user had full rights to their user folder, the fact that they didn't have any rights to the USERS folder in the path was causing the issue. (at least in my case). Hope this helps. Please enter it again. mwolfect May 31, 2011 6:54 AM Hello Adobe!I get that error when trying to install Adobe Reader X, or upgrade/update on Windows 7 Pro workstations. This also happens when I try to update Adobe Standard products that are on our workstations. This is an Active Directory based network, and users have their Documents folder redirected error 1324 the to a network server. Users have full rights over that folder, so using a network location should not be an issue. This is absolutely ridiculous that this should be a problem.I've seen several solutions, such as repointing the Documents folder to their C drive again and then back, but that is a ludicrous solution. I'm lucky that only a few of our workstations are Win 7 currently and that I have not been made aware of this issue on Windows XP Pro. I couldn't imagine having to touch 250 workstation to fix this problem.Re-redirecting the Documents folder it is NOT a solution it is a bandaid for something broken.Does anyone know of a fix or solution to this problem? I can't uninstall, repair or modify my installation of NetAdvantage. I was trying to modify my existing 11.2 version because a team-mate realized we had different DLL versions based on the same install. I can do anything. I even tried installing the latest version of the tools but I get the same message. If I try to uninstall via the Windows control panel I get the same message. I am in a corporate environment and my "My Documents" folder is mapped to a network drive. Any advice? I did not have read permissions to the folder just below "My Documents". I think the networking team here had made some sort of a change recently. Once these permissions were changed it started working correctly. Thanks for your help! Also can you attach the log file of the installer itself? This will allow us to see what the actual reason for such behavior may be. Thank you.
