This also happens when I try to update Adobe Standard products that are on our workstations. This is an Active Directory based network, and users have their Documents https://forums.adobe.com/thread/858745 folder redirected to a network server. Users have full rights over that folder, so using a network location should not be an issue. This is absolutely ridiculous that this should be a problem.I've seen several solutions, such as repointing the Documents folder to their C drive again and then back, but that is a ludicrous solution. I'm lucky that only a few of our workstations are Win 7 currently and that I have not been made aware of this issue on Windows XP Pro. I couldn't imagine having to touch 250 workstation to fix this problem.Re-redirecting the Documents folder it is NOT a solution it is a bandaid for something broken.Does anyone know of a fix or solution to this problem? I can't uninstall, repair or modify my installation of NetAdvantage. I was http://www.infragistics.com/community/forums/t/82813.aspx trying to modify my existing 11.2 version because a team-mate realized we had different DLL http://windowsxp.mvps.org/err1324.htm versions based on the same install. I can do anything. I even tried installing the latest version of the tools but I get the same message. If I try to uninstall via the Windows control panel I get the same message. I am in a corporate environment and my "My Documents" folder is mapped to a network error 1324 drive. Any advice? I did not have read permissions to the folder just below "My Documents". I think the networking team here had made some sort of a change recently. Once these permissions were changed it error 1324 the started working correctly. Thanks for your help! Also can you attach the log file of the installer itself? This will allow us to see what the actual reason for such behavior may be. Thank you. In their case, it was the "My Pictures" folder that was mapped to a network drive and giving the same "Error 1324" that your log shows. They list a couple of workarounds for this kind of issue. 1) Map a drive to your "My Documents" folder and change the registry key to use that mapped drive. Published: Nov 04, 2005 Send your feedback Symptom When you attempt to install a software such as NIS or any Windows Installer software package, you may encounter the following error message: Error 1324: The folder path 'My Pictures' contains an invalid character Solution This happens due to incorrect shell folder value type, or due to incorrect data in the registry. To resolve the problem, fix the My Pictures Shell folder paths in the registry accordingly. The default values are given in a tabular column in the following article. There is also a REG fix available in the following page: Reset the Shell Folders paths to defaults Don't forget to inspect the value type. If you're using an expandable string data such as %userprofile%, then the registry value type should be of REG_EXPAND_SZ, not REG_SZ.
