Error 1324 Invalid Character Windows 7
mwolfect May 31, 2011 6:54 AM Hello Adobe!I get that error when trying to install Adobe Reader X, or upgrade/update on Windows 7 Pro workstations. This also happens when I try to update Adobe Standard products that are on our workstations. This is an Active Directory based network, and users have their Documents folder redirected to a network server. Users have full rights over error 1324 the path contains an invalid character that folder, so using a network location should not be an issue. This is absolutely ridiculous that this should be a problem.I've seen several solutions, such as repointing the Documents folder to their C drive again and then back, but that is a ludicrous solution. I'm lucky that only a few of our workstations are Win 7 currently and that I have not been made aware of this issue on Windows XP Pro. I couldn't imagine having to touch 250 workstation to fix this problem.Re-redirecting the Documents folder it is NOT a solution it is a bandaid for something broken.Does anyone know of a fix or solution to this problem? computer which had changed domain servers and had an old profile I experienced this error: "Error 1324.The path My Documents or the volume is
Error 1324 The Folder Path Contains An Invalid Character Windows 7
invalid. Please enter it again." This told me the my documents folder error 1324 adobe was being redirected to an invalid location. I tried right clicking on my documents in the start menu error 1324 adobe uninstall but I was unable to change the path probably because of an old group policy. I figured I would need to change it in the registry. The registry key for https://forums.adobe.com/thread/858745 My Documents location is usually HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders But if it has been changed by group policy like in my case it is located here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders The key is called personal in both locations. The way I fixed the adobe reader install problem was to change the my documents location back to a local location such as the default location http://getdeclue.com/2012/08/09/adobe-reader-install-failed-error-1324-the-path-my-documents-or-the-volume-is-invalid-please-enter-it-again/ of: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents. I also changed the location of my pictures, my music and my videos for good measure. I then downloaded the full installer from Adobe's website saved it in the local my documents location and the install finished successfully. { 4 comments… read them below or add one } md November 7, 2012 at 5:19 am Great Thank you for the info! I think the issue lies in that Adobe installers do not like Windows file synchronization and redirecting the User's Application Data folder. Has anyone else come across and resolved an issue error 1324 like this? Cheers. It's fixed in the latest Reader 9.1 patch because we ran into the same issue on our users with redirect folders. The latest Reader software should fix the problem. 0 Jalapeno OP CJC Jul 23, 2009 at 2:42 UTC Charlie1827 wrote: What OS are you trying to install the apps on? WinXP and Vista on my computer, same issue with both. I should also add that I have tried to install and run these as a user that does not use MS File Sync and they work perfectly. 0 Jalapeno OP CJC Jul 23, 2009 at 2:45 UTC New Reader version is good ( I went back to v8 long ago), but I am still up the creek with the Authorware software. We are looking to use some online training courses that are developed with this software. 0 Habanero OP CharlieB Jul 23, 2009 at 2:49 UTC As Mark said, have you downloaded the most recent version and tried it? 0 Jalapeno OP CJC Jul 23, 2009 at 2:57 UTC No I haven't, I expect it will work, but my real issue is not with Adobe Reader..it is with their Authoware software. I need a way to fix that issue with the Authoware software. I only mentioned the Reader because I believe the problem was related. Thanks 0 This discu
